Been lurking for a few months mainly checking out the Mooche battery testing. New to vaping and been staying in the third world for while now. There are definitely some added challenges. Considering a pack of smokes is less than $1 here switching to vaping only happened because I couldn't breath, hence could not inhale. So now I chain vape, breath and do not wake in the middle of the night gasping for air.

My first quest once I realized the 18650 issue is still ongoing. Out of 8 batteries the only one I know is real is a Li Shen LR1865SZ 2500MA. I mean, like, who would fake that? Purchased it with my toe test which was a EVOD Pro. Researched batteries, discovered the only real online shop in the country had LG HB2's and was pretty proud of my landing. I mean, just look at these babies.

Notice the glaring problem? Like duh, I didn't, even checking out Battery Bro. I just couldn't be sure. Next I purchased two VTC6's from the same shop. They do slightly out perform these 2 "HB2's" and take a few minutes more to charge, but not much. Still missing the duh indicator of the positive terminal I final googled the number on the HG2's, "P14BE272AG".

Only after that did I recognize they had 5 legs. LOL, I have searched battery pictures high and low and just can not come close to concluding wtf they are. Since I usually mostly vape below 5 amps unless it is on a Aries 0.25 and then I can really vape at a max of 10 amp it is hard to know. I tried to compare the sag to Mooche's PVA charts at 5a and 10a for Type A and B, but they seem to have less sag than the PVA. So I am clueless, in more ways than one. I did take a shot at a couple of HB2's from EBay for haha's. Well can definitely see the difference in the color of the wrap. Can definitely see the matted texture of the white ring on the positive terminal. They do perform a little better and charge a little longer than the first 3 P14BE272AG HB2's, about the same as the VTC6's, if they are VTC6's. Ordered a couple of AWT's from AliExpress hoping I might end up with 30Q's, but I won't hold my breath.

Now this is where I disagree with Mooche, there is actually a real place for PVA's, even if you know what battery to get. As expensive as they appear, because of the cost of shipping, they may be my only chance to actually get an authentic A bin battery that can be counted on. At least I hope they still can be. I only ordered 2 as a test to be sure they could get here, and I just ordered the type A's to start with.

I really hope Mooche periodically keeps up with testing PVA'a for the benefit of third world expats, it may be the only hope for third world expats getting the real thing, as expensive as they are, in my case they are cheaper than you think.

Oh, the Li Shen LR1865SZ 2500MA charges about 50 minutes less at 500ma. About 5:20hr give or take when discharged to around 3.20 +/-. The other unknowns around 6:10hr +/-.

Welcome to the board. It's a challenge, without question. Fortunately, on your next trip out you can take known good gear with you. In the interim, I'm sure somebody on this board would help you by buying some known authentic vape-capable batteries and sending them to you, or at least provided sending to whatever country you're in isn't unlawful. Me, for example. Shoot me a PM if you need help.

Thank you, I really appreciate the offer. The issue is not being legal to import 18650's. It is legal and duty free as long as you're not buying several hundred $$ worth. The issue is restrictions on international shipping of them due to safety considerations, primarily on aircraft. Corporate shippers often can get deep shipping discounts the general public can not. Not only is the shipping cost ridiculously high for a few batteries, it can be so high that items that are not taxable suddenly become taxable, including the cost of shipping.

I understand. Just thought I'd offer.
