Well, to be fair, it didn't actually "melt". It exploded...and the ladies at the Ballet ticket office still eye me suspiciously everytime I go there...
Gosh, they serve great Wine at the Ballet...You should go with me sometime. The wine makes the ballet more exciting to watch.
And - by the way - I have all new shoes now!
I've had too much tea this evening. I'm a little ADHD...

The male dancers wear reallllllly tight costumes. Sometimes I have to remind myself I'm not at "Thunder from down Under"'s show...(Vegas). The ballet ushers really FROWN on hooting & hollering...and trying to put dollar bills in the leotards REALLY gets them upset!

It's a pretty short story. My fancy Italian shoes with thick rubber soles were about 15 years old. Apparently that old Italian rubber has something in it that degrades over time. One of them exploded while I was walking from the parking lot into the Seattle Ballet one night. I felt something funny & looked down to see the bottom of the shoe gone. Then chunks of the other shoe began shooting off to the sides, almost impaling a street musician ...
I had to change into the only other shoes in my car, which were either old crocs or old Birkenstocks...I can't remember which - but I felt like everyone was mocking me for the entire evening. Perhaps it was just because my dear sister was pointing it all out...
sigh.
That is why I always have to carry spare shoes in the Jeep.
It's now a law I believe.
And, I still find little chunks of shoe in my car everytime I vacuum it.
