I make a high fat cake that is something like that Tracy, and boy is it oooey gooey good! Haven't made it in a long time but here's the recipe. I'll have to try yours!

1box yellow cake mix, cook as per box instructions in a 9x13" pan
1 can crushed pineapple
1 can condensed milk
flaked coconut

When cake is cool, poke holes in it with the handle end of a wooden spoon. Pour a can of crushed pineapple with juice over cake, pour a can of condensed milk over cake, and top with flaked coconut.

Hope your eye is feeling better sweetie!

My eye is not as uncomfortable as it was when I first woke up this am, but gosh darned annoying as all get out. Feels like something is in there scratching at it each time I blink.

Hey, I wonder if the old 5er trick with the nic juice would help cure what's ailing it? :p Of course I'm kidding...unless of course someone said it'd help! It's driving me batty.

:p @ TT......because I am once again GREEN with ENVY!!!

Pink eye is going around....and I think I woke up with the beginnings of it this am. ***cries***

So far I am using tea bags, milk and saline solution. Anyone know any other tricks that doesn't include traditional medicine? (last resort for me)

eta...Will I be sorry I asked this? hahaha
Hey Tracy! sorry to hear about your the pink eye. Tons of info on the net. I have not tried any since I never had conjunctivitis.
Home Remedies for Pink Eye - Treatment & Cure - Natural Remedy for Pink Eye – Pink Eye Diet - Natural Remedy For Conjunctivitis
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis) Information and Treatment

I forgot to add: start with a warm compress to your eye. This may help facilitate (draw out) any foreign objects and help diminish the drainage, etc.

Eat yogurt and you can also make a compress using yogurt.

Started snowing here about an hour ago Tracy. I had to make a mad dash to the store for cottage cheese before the roads get bad. Yes, cottage cheese...my life is incomplete without my bowl of pears, shredded colby jack, and low fat cottage cheese at lunch!

I feel the same way about my Chobani Greek yogurt.

Oh Bov! That really looks good!!! Pineapple sundaes are among my favorites!!!! I"m also guilty of loving coconut.

Glad you got to the store and back before all the crap weather starts!

Don't know if you're a cake person or not, but I found this recipe and it's a hit with everyone so far who's tried it.

1 box Angel Food cake mix
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple with juice

Mix the two, and only the two, ignore box instructions. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. When cooled, top with 1 12 oz. container of whipped topping.

This recipe is low fat too!!

That sounds delish, Tracy. Hungry Girl has a similar recipe where you blend a box of cake mix and a can of pumpkin and bake.

You guys are killing me with all this talk about cakes and brownies and all that good stuff! We need to start a food fan club. I love cottage cheese too and eat a lot of it.

As for weather, we are currently bathed in sunshine and a delightful 77 degrees with a nice light breeze.

The chimney sweep just left. In cold weather we use our wood burning earth stove a lot and its been a couple years since we've had everything cleaned good. So that's done and I'm ready for the next bout of cold weather ... unless spring happens to set in. February is usually our worst month for cold though.

Tracy, I have awakened with that scratchy feeling in my eye three of four times. I saw an optometrist and he said it looked like some kind of virus. He gave me some eye drops and when it happens again, I put in a drop and it eventually goes away. I am starting to think it might be an allergy. It feels likes my eyeball is being scratched every time I blink. It feels awful.

Up from a small nap. I laid down with a tea bag on my eye and sort of dozed off!

Yes lilac, that is absolutely how it feels. Awful! lol I thought I was getting a cold, so have been using saline nose drops for the past couple of days. I'm not sure if it's viral or just part of that. That side of my nose is congested as well. who knows!

Sdh, Thank you so much for the links to the home remedies. By far my favorite whenever possible. I'm going to try the honey next I think. ;) There is an OTC natural type of drops for pink eye, but the darn weather keeps me from heading out for some.

I do not have medical insurance, so I try to treat whatever I can at home first. I do have a good doc who does cut me breaks on his bill, and gives samples when available. Like I said, last resort!

All this talk about cakes is making me want some!!

I'm with ya on the cottage cheese 5c....one of the things I was made to eat when I was little. I don't dislike it as much as succotash, but if I never had to eat it again I wouldn't cry!

Here is another that sounds strange but is delicious!

In a 9X13 inch pan sprayed with nonstick spray, cut up apples & pears just about filling the pan. Over this pour one box yellow cake mix. Then melt an entire stick of butter and pour over the dry cake mix.
Usually this is enough moisture to soak into the dry cake mix (butter and moisture from fruit) however if when baking you notice a particular dry spot, add a few tablespoons of water to the area.
Bake at 350 for 35 -45 minutes.
May be topped with Vanilla Ice Cream!
