Oh oh oh....I want this!! Look what Moorea has!! Lampworked Glass Drip Tips - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks

090.jpg

OMG I was just coming here with this info for you Bov!!! It REALLY was made for you and I'm so glad you are claiming it for yourself! Woot woot! It is my favorite one there and so stinkin cute!

Thank you 5c, and yes I do know that the stove requires a 220 line. I lucked out though because this house used to be two apartments back in the day and there's a 220 wire right in the corner of the pantry just behind the stove. All I need to buy is a new circuit breaker for the box and an outlet that matches the plug for the stove. My handyman friend has been on standby for this project for awhile now, I was just waiting to run out of that propane. Dang right, I paid for every drop of that and was using it ALL!!
I'm just not looking forward to the learning curve of cooking with electric vs gas, as I've used gas now for the last 25 years at least.

I am looking at a smooth top range vs the older coil style. Any pros/cons that anyone knows about?

I will admit that I am the QUEEN of boiling over, so the smooth top appears to be an easier clean. The salesman said that the coils burn out in time from spills onto them, but of course he is a salesman and they are more costly = more commission for him. I am wondering if they may be more costly to fix vs the coils? Any input is appreciated.

Bov, I am putting a note onto my dry erase board tonight to "go to post office". I swear if I want to get something done, just put it up there and it gets done. Otherwise, life just carries me away and things slip my mind!

Ok, I am overtired now and in dire need of my bed....didn't sleep well last night and up since 6am.

Actually they are cheaper to fix because all you need are the coils instead of a burner. We got a glass top and we never have had a coil burn out. you need to get the cleaner for cooked on spills. I just use steel wool but my daughter thinks I'm going to scratch the glass so she has a fit but that glass is tough. That's great that you have a recepticle for the stove. Stove plugs are pretty much all the same. TThe dryer 220 recepticle are different.

Yee Haw on the Cow Tank Bo.

You know I'll take a pic of it on my Divine Bovine pinkie!

I don't know what advances may have been made in the last 12 or so years Tracy, but I had a smooth top electric stove and loved it...mostly. If you are prone to dropping things on your stove that's a deal breaker. That top can crack or break. If I remember, the one I had also would need the whole top replaced if a burner unit went out on it. The ones back then took longer to boil water too, so pasta, etc was a longer wait but not too bad. It was wicked easy to clean! You use a smooth top polish to buff the little scratches out, and can even use a blade scraper if you burn something onto it.

Like you, I much prefer gas, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. I would go smooth top again in a heartbeat, but there are cons to consider. Just be sure you look into what advances have been made since my advice may be outdated a bit.

ETA: See John's post above mine LOL

I've got the glass top...The biggest advantage IMO.....You can pile more stuff on top of the stove...Hey I always cook outside...

There is a new design out...I forget what it's called but I do know it requires a special pot/pan...I saw it when I was shopping for a hot plate recently...My cousin has one and said the cooking surface remains cool to the touch...It also heats up really fast...Kinda electro magnetic err sumpthin...Yeah...I got the mack daddy glass top stove and I was out shopping for a hot plate...and I got one to!!!!!

George's magazine...The Horse Backstreet Choppers holds their annual chopper show near me...I think this will be the 14th annual...Man it's come a long way since the first that was held at a motel in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee....There wasn't even a George around back then...Now it's a big deal and held at the Rockingham Dragstrip...locally known as the Hammer..The show is for the garage builder...The factory built stuff is generally frowned upon...Hey I sold my big engine hot rod and got myself a Springer Softail...I could care less who frowns on it...I got more things to do than wrench to ride...big Harley engines require wrenching on a constant basis...and the Softail rides like a cloud not a skateboard..I'm good....

My Aunt Azalee{Azz-ahh-lee for you non Southern types} is 82 and has always been really close to my Mom...actually Azalee is my Great Aunt and sister to my Grandmother Flarie{RIP}...Man they had some names in that family...Genora....Bathora...etc...Anyhow earlier tonight Azalee's husband.....my Uncle Carlton{we call him Grader as he drove a Moto-Grader building roads for a living} went up too the barn to feed the cows...he got sick and thought he was having a heart attack...They got him to the hospital and all seems well...He's staying overnight for observation...This is Grader's second such episode...Say a little something special for Grader when you talk to the man...

I'll be afraid to use it for breaking the ears off of it lol.

Wharf, I'm still sober too...just didn't want to steal your, 5c, and Mark's thunder :)

First, stop that stinkin' thinkin', there's no thunder stealing !!!

Second, I know you'd tell me if you weren't.

And third, 7000 days, 700 days, 70 days and most importantly ONE day (or day 1 all over again *raises hand* been there ) are all an accomplishment for us. Each one of those, we make a conscious commitment to be sober that day. And some of those days and a HELL of a lot harded than others *wink* :)

Always, please be at peace sweetie.... (((Hugs)))

Thank you ElDee, Bov, and 5c! I am going to go with this one...http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/203547...Id=203547928&R=203547928&superSkuId=202603384

I do love my gas stoves and will miss it but like I said my cousin came and measured back before hurricane Sandy in Oct., never to be heard from again, and then that estimate of 1200 made me appreciate the electric side of life! haha

Today on the to do list.....Mail Bov's package, food shop, and possibly go pay for that stove. My friend won't be available to hook it up until sometime after the holiday weekend so it's not a big deal to wait an extra day or so.

Have a great day all!

Thank you Wharf  Between the stinkin thinkin and keeping my side of the street clean, it's a full time job around here lol. I wish I could enjoy my local F2F meetings, but I just...don't. It's not the right place for me, so I frequent the MIP forums :)

Dee, you know my words are going to the Man for you and your family always!

Sorry you had to wait for me to wake up this morning Tracy! I crash around 3am, so I'm not an early riser like yall. Nice stove!!

Got my Moo Tip ordered, Lilac it was just one of those things I couldn't resist...even tho it's above my drip tip budget

That is the exact same one we have. You'll like it.

Bo I'm proud of you. Damn right get the mo tip. If you go through life waiting you'll get nothing but wanting. You deserve it.

Nice Wharf. I wished I had your money buddy. There I go wishing again.

ECF is getting so wierd. I tried to put another AVI up for the holiday that was 25% smaller but I kept getting the "File too large" warning. I wonder who does their programming? I'll bet it's the same guy that's in charge of the speed.

Comcast finally messaged me and said they have been trying to contact me but the # was always busy. Ha! I told them "Well that was your phone so you of all people should know it's disconnected" Then I told them my cell # that I have now given them at least 15 times. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. Enough joking, I hope you all have a wonderful and very safe holiday weekend.
