It's taken time, but the deck is pretty much done :) A little final staining, hand grab goes on the stair rails.

Now I'm working on rescreening the porch,. two large panels had come out.. I'm pulling out the old spline setup, crazy to use for large areas, will staple it on and cover with 1x2 pressure treated trim.

Another meat coma day,. Mabel grilled a large rack of ribs and hot sausage.. Excellent eating on a cool day.

Thanks. I started it back in late May, a bunch of other things took priority during the Summer, glad to get it out of the way.

Looking forward to having a fully screened porch. It'll be nice to grill on the deck, move to the porch if the bugs come out, excellent view of the lake.

The work this year should pay off. I've got one small section of siding to do, and some sheathing under the floor, but next year should be enjoying the camp. I'm refurbing the old bunkhouse, however it is not a rush; it's an extra building, not the main living area.

I love seeing and hearing the progress on your camp, Mark! Even tho it's hard work, like you said...it'll pay off ten fold :)

Evening all! Working on a new pouch pattern. This one is crocheted in the round and it's looking rather...interesting  Pic to follow when I get it uploaded.

Mark the winter winds off the Atlantic have played havoc with my screen for years...I always used the heavy duty fiberglass and the wind would always stretch it...The door is vinyl and there is a push in strip on it to hold the screen....Errant hands and dog claws wrecked the door rather often...Lowes's carries regular duty, heavy duty{my previous choice} and pet duty....I'm loving the thicker pet duty....no stretching and it holds up on the door...I used 1/4 x 1 1/2{??? @} treated strips as well...Do yourself a favor....drill it and use stainless screws to hold it down...I also use stainless staples..The deck looks great...I'm sure it will be enjoyed for years to come...

Morning all...yes, still morning here!! Fran, it is cool enough here for even me to call it chilly.

Pokey, your mind works like mine ;) Maybe I'll add some fuzzy "pom poms" to the bottom when it's finished

Tracy, the minute I laid eyes on that sparkly yarn I thought of you! Thank you for the compliment and enjoy not misplacing your Buzz!

I went for charcoal colored aluminum screen for the porch, will replace the fiberglass in the door with it when it gets punctured. I'd use the 1/4 x 1-1/2 strips if local HD or Lowes had decent ones, but they didn't, so I've gone for the nominal 1x2 treated, which are actually closer to 1/2 x 1-1/2; thick enough for a good screw to bite. (HD calls them 3/4", but that's a crock)

Stopped by HD today just for a new pack of SS staples, they were out, I'll probably find some at Ace. I'll go with 1-1/4" "deck" screws, got them in green to match the paint color for the trim, and they're properly rated for treated wood. PITA yanking the old screen screws -- a mix of stuff, different sizes, none of them suitable for outdoors.

I don't think I over build, but when I do something I don't want to have to redo it in a couple years. Even simple stuff like the stair rails, I use 5" ledger screws to tie the 4x4s to the stringers, plus heavy duty simpson ML26Z angles and 1/4" screws, so the stair guards get bonded to the main deck rails. It's nice to be able to sit on a rail or lean against it, with no doubt that it'll hold :)
