Good morning Fran! What a cute picture!!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts about Maddie! No fever this morning so I am hoping to get out of the house some today. Yesterday's weather wasn't so hot and although today's temps are a bit cooler, there isn't any frickin rain forecasted!
Now begins the count down to moving Joc home from college for the final time!! (Can I get an Amen?!?) :) she will then commute this summer through next May for her masters. So proud of her and her accomplishments! Hoping to move her home on Thursday but it depends on her Dads availability with the truck. If you all know me like I know you do.....I told her that dad best not drag his feet on this or Mom and her Impala will be showing up and ill strap that mattress to the top and haul azz home!!! Lol ;)

Have an awesome Sunday everyone!!!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable Sunday!

We did indeed get out of the house, and it felt great! :) First stop was the pond place for a couple of small marginal plants. The ones I had didn't survive my "divide and transplant" attempt last year. (???)

From there we headed over to a Pet Store where we held a sweet little ferret, a couple of puppies, and petted some kitties. I am really bothered by a situation I saw there with a puppy. We spent some time playing with a 9 week old boxer pup (male), cute as can be! This pup looked too thin to me and when the sales girl went over his records I noticed, and called her out on the fact that this puppy was fixed already. I guess I made her squirm a little as most peoples reaction would have been thrilled that they would not have that cost later on with the vet. Anyways, she said, "well, there may be a trait or something that they felt..." and I chimed in with "that was an issue they wouldn't want carried on in future generations". She said, "exactly". Then she walked into a back room.

The puppy then hunched up his back and left us a little present there on the floor! lol This "present" was not healthy looking by any means, so I called for that girl to come back. I showed her what he left and said, "this does NOT look very healthy at all". Again she squirmed and said, "No, I know. We think he may have parasites and he's being treated."

It bothers me that he was already fixed....I think they know more than they're saying and have not altered his price tag to reflect the issue. It bothers me that some unsuspecting family will fall in love with and buy this dog and have a ton of vet bills down the road, or could even pass him along if they cannot afford his care and I just think it is so wrong.

I do realize that I didn't offer to actually buy the dog, so perhaps they would disclose the issue when someone is seriously interested.....but I have big doubts. Thanks for letting me vent.....I just can't stop thinking about this poor little pup and what kind of future he might have. :(

Evening all :)

Ugh Tracy, I hate retail pet stores!! And I even bought (rescued) Chase from one. I would normally have gone to a shelter, but Chase picked me...so what could I do? And he did have problems when I first got him, but in Florida the law says that the pet store IS responsible for all medical treatment if you choose to keep the pet. They didn't tell me that, my vet did...and you can bet your bippy that they paid every penny of his treatment for breathing problems that took a couple of months of meds and twice weekly vet visits for breathing treatments. I wonder if NJ has such a law?

Aw that's too bad about Chase having issues, but sure glad that vet told you that you weren't responsible for his treatment bills. Gee, I don't know if that would be the case or not. The pup is in a Pennsylvania pet store, but it's a vet (MY vet) in NJ who treats them all prior to finding their forever homes. Hmmmm, maybe I'll call my vet tomorrow and see what his opinion is on that puppy. I mean parasites are very treatable and curable, but I don't see any reason for neutering that puppy over parasites. I wasn't born yesterday, nor the day before, and that girl knew it. ;)

I think they should lower that pups price (and maybe they have but added in the micro chipping/neutering bill?) AND make sure to fully disclose any illness or possible problems he may have down the road to someone considering taking him home.

Ok, rants over. For now, lol

ElDee, they had the CUTEST little Min Pin (well, next to spike of course!) too. He was full of p*ss and vinegar and his stance was adorable. He puffed out his little chest and just stood there like he was a force to be reckoned with. It just cracked me up! I wanted to bring him home too! hahaha

We have those puppy mills here....Legislation against mills was proposed and abandoned last year...It's a good little unregulated, tax free business that makes me mad as hell....My previous dogs were Chopper and BeBee...American Pit Bull Terriers of the old school blood lines...I had one litter of pups that I gave away...To much hassle for me and the world has plenty of dogs needing rescue...I'm a firm advocate of rescue...

Tracy the Mini Pin is of the Terrier breed...Pinscher is German for Terrier....I've never seen a dog as full of fire as Spike....

Well the worm farm wasn't quiet what I expected....Just beds on the ground...full of worms but still not what I expected...I'm still game on the idea but I gotta look around a little more....64 gallons of wet castings was $160....There's money to be made but I prefer a little nicer than beds on the ground...

Puppies sold at the ASPCA up here are all fixed. You can't by one from them unless it's spayed or neutered. The people that by bulldogs from us say they won't buy from any of those other places. They like the fact that our puppies are raised in a family setting instead of tiny little cages where the catch everything under the sun. Also ours aren't sold without a clean bill of health from the vet. But then we only sell a few pups every yr. and sometimes none.
