Hello Everyone.....

I was doing a bit of research on taxes they may put on ejiuce, and run across the below article, that claims smokers save the gov't money because they die younger.

This may well be true to some degree and having a big tax, for what the gov't called added heath cost, would surely be a 1/2 truth at best or out right lie at worst.

At any rate it looks like a win win for the gov't, and once ejuice starts taking away that hard cash, they will likely get it back from ejuice, as one of the reason's they put a big tax on RYO.

Was because many went to RYO, after they rised the tax on premade cigs so high, and it's why they didn't go over kill with pipe tobacco, now they add a little pipe tobacco to RYO so it's not tax so high.

If you read the whole article it shows clearly, the gov't is depending on the high taxes now, and is one reason states are hurting because they counted on the tax funds, as many people keep getting around the high tax.

The Economic Benefits of Smoking | eHow.com

Early Death

  • The most controversial among the purported economic benefits of smoking is the benefit afforded by smokers whose deaths allegedly save governments money on health care. According to a report commissioned by the tobacco giant Philip Morris, Inc., and released in 2001, the Czech Republic saved about $147 million in 1997 as a result of early deaths, due to smoking, that prevented citizens from incurring health care or elderly-care costs.

  • The report was commissioned by the tobacco company in an attempt to combat recent claims about the fiscal wisdom of cigarette taxes. However, after the study's conclusions were released, Philip Morris spokespersons strove to distance the company from the findings and expressed deep regret over the loss of human life caused by smoking.

This article doesn't even take into account the amount saved on reduced Social Security payments.

lol i don't think reducing social security payments is going to help the government really considering they owe social security ALLOT of money, more then we owe anyone else... love how were in debt with ourselves :)

Actually, there have been several studies and it's true. The lifetime medical costs for a smoker are lower than the lifetime medical costs for a non-smoker. It's not really a surprise if you think about it. Smokers die a long agonizing expensive death. However, anyone that doesn't manage to get killed some other way does the same thing. They just take a little longer to get started.

Logically, the government gets paid coming and going for every single smoker. They should be thanking them not persecuting them.
