Oh Canada
Hey guys, ater quite a bit of reading and looking at what I can get in Canada (without having to bother with customs and all that BS). This is the kit I'm thinking about getting today. Any thoughts or concerns you think I should know about would be appreciated. Take into concideration that we seem to have a pretty limited amout of options in Canada as compared to the USA, or so it seems.
O
h I should mention, I was about a half pack a day smoker for over 20yrs. I'm looking for a e-cig that looks like an analog. I chose this one after watching a video review, and the price is around what I can afford. Plus they sell juice with nic. in it, for some reason there seem to be a lot that dont have that as an ingerdient.

Volt - Standard Starter Kit

Chime in if you can give me some help/insight. Thanks

The Volt is very well regarded. Strong battery, good battery life (particularly if you get the 78mm 320mAh battery) and the cartomizers are quite good, too. The Volt uses a standard KR808D-1 connector, so any cartomizers made for the 808 will fit on the Volt. There are at least a couple of Canadian vendors that also carry the Kanger (Kanger created the KR808D-1 and Kanger's cartos are the ones used for the Volt) horizontal bottom coil cartos, so you should have no trouble finding replacement cartos. Note that other E-cigs such as the Bloog MaxxFusion (which Happy Vaper carries and is quite similar to the Volt) and Smoov are also 808 devices, so you can use their cartos, as well.

Definitely go for it. If it's a slim E-cig you want then I think you'd be hard pressed to do better than the Volt. Make sure you get a kit with at least two batteries, and if you can swing it, the slim PCC is a great investment for charging on the go. (Note however that it has a second storage slot, but it will not fit a fully assembled 78mm battery. It'll either store one extra 78mm battery, a fully assembled Volt with a 65mm battery, or a couple of extra cartos.)

Since I gave my 510s to my brother-in-law in hopes of converting him once and for all, I'm seriously thinking about getting a kit myself.

I have both a Bloog and a Volt, and both are very good. The reason I'm switching to Volt is mostly the shipping costs - shipping Bloog to Europe is $30, and 10 euro customs each time (don't have to pay the customs fee on the Volts for some reason).
I don't notice any difference between them, so I can recommend both. I also have some G6 carto's, and they seem to work just as well.
I recently bought a Volt for a friend's birthday, and he seems very pleased with it.

I've heard that if you get eliquid in an automatic battery, it can make it stop working. I used auto batteries in my dse-801 for over a year and never had that happen. Not sure how many people who will tell you that actually had that happen themselves. I always got juice in my batteries as my 801 was my first e-cig and learned how to vape with it. So I was always overfilling it. But aside from that rumor, I will say that manual is better. You can only take small drags on the automatic batteries before it shuts off. I didn't like that. With a manual, it works for pretty much as long as you hold the button down for. So you can control how much vapor you're actually getting.

On another note, I preferred the 510 for my first "real" e-cig. It seemed to have the most available options at the time that I got it. I've never tried a kr808 but I can't imagine it being that much different really. They both make this white stuff called vapor right? :) You can change them by using different resistance attys, use cartos and clearos and tanks and all that stuff. So really, one isn't that much different than the other. Just pick what's best for you and your price. I personally thought the slim was better, until I realized carrying around 4 and 5 batteries a day that you will have to use was a pain in the behind. I much prefer carrying around 1 spare that I really only carry cause I was used to having spares, not because I have to have them. But not everybody likes the big battery e-cigs I guess.

I also started with the KR808 from V2 (stupidly -- their cartos taste like cat poop compared to the liquid I've bought) and, while it's only been a few weeks for me tobacco free, I have done a LOT of research (that I should have done previously if I weren't so anxious) and would now say ... go with the KR808 because it is close to the feel and look of an analog cig. It's a great intro.

A few days ago, starting to doubt my decision, I was then looking at getting an eGo or kGo, but instead found a 1300 mAh battery for the KR808 that is available from a couple of vendors. After a couple of weeks of charging both of my 808 batteries twice a day to keep them going, I'm stoked ... and buying it! Maybe two! So the Volt/808 is indeed becoming as expandable as the 510/eGo products.

Congratz on going KR808D-1. That's what i've started out with and have been going strong on for the last month (and 9 days straight & counting!). I'm curious on everyone's opinions why they prefer manual or auto? I haven't tried a manual yet, and i love the auto. Is there a benefit to manual?

The benefit to using a manual is that you can control how long your drag is. Also, if your refilled cartos leak, they won't get ruined. Personally, I like the auto batteries for the Volt better because I get a more satisfying drag. The buttons on my manuals are too small and I have to press down hard in order to get the same quality drag. That's been my experience.

I agree DebW, I cant imagine using a manual batt. Would't seem natural for me.

You'd be surprised how quickly you relearn :) If you get a higher quality PV with a good button, it's actually much better than automatic. I liked the auto better in my antique 801 cause the manual button broke all the time. But you couldn't pay me to go back to it after I switched to my ego :)

The difference is slim 510 is a 3.4v device, 3.1 under load, and the KR808D-1 models are real 3.7v devices. I vape both (all manuals since a leaking cartomizer would leak right over the hole of an auto battery). I use Boge 3 ohm cartos on slim 510 and Vapor4Life WOW cartos or Bloog cartos on KR808D-1. I like them both.

To test juices, you can drip on a manual KR8 with a DSE901 atomizer and drip tip. I also test juices on a 510 manual w/ an atomizer and drip tip. I vape thick juices the same way, and put thin clear juices I like in cartomizers.

I got the V2 starter kit and soured on their flavors the second I discovered e-liquids! I boiled my v2 carts clean and have been refilling them.
