Here's the deal. The FDA was given complete control to regulate the ecig industry. They never wanted the responsibility from the start, and already tried to ban them in 2007. Because of the ban, US Customs blocked all ecig imports. NJoy (cigalike manufacturer) sued and the judge over-ruled the ban and told the FDA to study ecigs and then set a ruling for regulations for the year 2014. The FDA dragged its feet, didn't do any testing, and used "junk science" with some encouragement from Big Tobacco and Big Pharma to base their deeming regulations that are about to go into effect.
The FDA is a corrupt government agency. They are in bed with both Big Tobacco and Big Pharma. How else to you explain why tobacco products like cigarettes and cigars are still around with all of their known health risks? The answer? Follow the money. The government makes too much money from sin taxes on tobacco products. To ban tobacco would put thousands in the tobacco industry out of work and the government would lose millions of dollars in taxes.
Big Pharma has a lot to lose with a thriving ecig industry. Their nicotine gum, patches, prescription drugs, etc only have a 20-30% effective rating to stop smoking. Ecigs have a much higher effectiveness rating. So isn't it in Big Pharma's best interest to create "junk science" propaganda to eliminate their competition?
