It is different for different vendors and different flavors. If you get something like DeKang juices, which have been pre made and been sitting on a vendors shelf for a while, they may not need to steep very long. If you get juice that is made fresh when you order it, you will need to steep longer. The size of the bottle affects it (a 30ml bottle takes longer than a 10ml bottle) and the larger VG% takes longer too.

As far as what steeping does to juice, the e juice takes a little while to fully mix up. Some flavors settle down and some become stronger. Check with your juice vendor, they usually will give you a better picture of how long the juice needs to steep.

All I can do is give you my method.

First sniff it, if it does not smell of alcohol or harsh chemicals, try it - it may not need steeped at all.

If it does smell of either, leave it uncapped for 4-5 hours and sniff again, if the smell is gone or very weak, cap it, if not, leave it another few hours, up to 24 hours until the smell you don't want is gone or very weak, then cap it and try it again.

If still not good, let it steep, capped, in a dark place for 3 days per flavor in it unless it's tobacco then, leave it for at least a week before trying it again. Some tobaccos take as long as a month to get good.

I am WAY new to all this (1 month of vaping), But, I do notice that the juice from a local shop(lucky me for having a shop within 10 minutes of my house that makes my preferred juice) becomes more flavorful after sitting for a week. My shop makes the juice right in front of me so it is very fresh. The juice becomes more flavorful as it ages.

I usually steep my e-liquids by giving them a good shake, take the cap off and let it oxidize for 24hours (in case alcohol was used in the mix) then I pop the cap on, let it sit in a dark cupboard for a week making sure to give it a good shake everyday. And it's perfectly fine to take a dip here and there while it's steeping, hell I do. Usually by the time my steeping time is done, Ive dipped into the juice a few times :) Plus I notice the flavor enhancement each time I dip in.

I only steep juices that are mixed on order/shipment. Most juices you buy at vape stores have been there for some time that they've had their steeping time already. But sometimes I will oxidize (keeping the cap off) for 24 hours to air out some of the alcohol if it was used in the mix.

Cheers and good luck!

VAPE ON!

Tobacco blends are a lot like a homade chili, the longer it cooks the better it tastes. All the different flavors need time to blend together. Shake it up periodically to give it a good mix and let it cook. You can test it occasionally, and when its right, use it.

Write down the start time and the use time, that way you'll know how long to steep if you buy more. With different juices, different steeping times are needed. I know when my 50mil bottle of Smokey is 1/3 gone I need more. My RY4 only needs a couple of days.

do you ever put the bottle in a cup of hot water to speed up the process? does it make it evaporate faster if you get the juice warm?

There's a lot of good info here. I am a DIY'er and found that letting the juice steep is good for flavor.

There are a few of techniques I've read about. One is to warm the bottle in hot tap water for a few minutes and shake well then reheat and shake again. Another is to get an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner and place the bottles in the ultrasonic with water and let it run for a few hours. This is said to speed up the steeping process by distributing the flavor through the VG faster. What seems to be the standard is to shake and store with the top off and re-shake every day, wait a week or two then enjoy.

I have a bunch of bottles that have been stored in the fridge for several months and the flavor is awesome. I've read that storing the juice in the fridge will keep it fresh for long periods of time. I also hear that you can freeze the juice, but I haven't done this. I'm not sure if this is necessary but would like to hear from someone else that knows more about the freezing process. Freezing does do something to the molecular structure of things and may alter the juice. Might be a good thing or not. Back in the 70's there was a lot about super-freezing components and metals to get a better product, but haven't heard much about it since then.

If you can link me to the article about the ultrasonic cleaner I would very much appreciate it as I have full access to one in my line of work. Thanks a lot in advance

I've found that while I steep some juices (currently I have 4 steeping) that having a flavor or 2 available for use help me forget that there is some Boba's that's not quite ready, .......it I just thought of it now I want to vape it.

I tried that once took the caps off the bottles heated up some water and let it sit. Came back a few hours later it was just a bunch of bottles in a bowl all the label on the bottle come off. It worked a little bit but I still ended up letting it sit for a few days. Not really worth it considering I had no way of telling which bottle was what granted I tried it with about 6 juice.

Here's the link to one of the threads on using an ultrasonic cleaner. There are more just search for ultrasonic steeping a short list will come up.
