Those of you with Mechs and VV/VW Mods... How often do you switch and why?

Just curious as I find that I am using mechs around the house and on short car trips/walks but I tend to bring my electronic mods to work, when I travel, etc.

Mechs are great as I prefer the vape and just enjoy fiddling around with them. For work or travel, my SX Mini or Provaris are just easier IME.

What about you and why?

After switching to mechs from regulateds, I never use regulateds, they're just not fun to use for me anymore... 5-clicks on/off, limit of ohms to low often(0.15 often), adjust up/down and TC etc W-T-F... Let me build a coil I know has the effect i'm after and just hit the damn button to vape period... Save the hand-holding for the ones who needs it... It also reacts imidiately/hair-trigger, without any stupid miliseconds pause for the chip to keep up with it's calculations... I can do those on my own thank you very much... ;)

Well, I use one to check ohms of my new builds, as it's more precise than my ohm-meter(istick 100w is 0.03 ohm more precise than my ohm-meter...)

Just my two cents :)

I keep a Pico or a cloupoor mini in my day bag to troubleshoot problems but Im almost exclusively a mech user.

For me, mechs are the most simple, most durable, most dependable option I could use.
I couldnt imagine going all day, doing what I do, depending soley on a fragile chipset and delicate tactile buttons.

I switched to mechs about a year ago & just never switched back.
I like the simplicity & durability of a good mech, but mostly I get easily aggravated by all the computer programs in our modern world.

I like all the things, but I do favor a mech.
I use a Cloupor Mini and a tank for driving and dog walking. I have a big box for running claptons in an RDA at high wattages. But the rest of the time I'm on single 18650 tube mech and an RDA, because there's nothing like it.
It's not just about functionality, each gives a different vape combined with different juices tuned for each setup.

Over the last few years I have used both mechanical and regulated mods. I like both types, for different nonspecific reasons.

My first mod was a mechanical (Silver Bullet) with a carto tank back in 2012. Within a couple of months I "upgraded" to a Provari 2.5, again with a cartotank. I used this combo almost exclusively for two years. I began rebuilding coils in a Kayfun Lite Plus rebuildable tank atomizer (again on the Provari) which was used almost exclusively for over a year.

Around that time, I began working for a vape shop, and management stipulated that their employees use the vape equipment that the shop sold, so I went back to using my Silver Bullet while at work.

Currently, I use the Silver Bullet with a Tobecco clone Velocity RDA, or a Wisemic RX200 regulated mod with a Uwell Crown subohm tank. These two combo's vape differently, and I switch between the two for variety. I don't use the Provari much any more because it won't fire sub-ohm coils, but I plan to buy clone Kabuki tank that uses standard resistance Aspire coils, for future backup use.

I will say that I prefer using tube mods when I'm "out and about" as they fit better in my pants pocket. So that usually means the Silver Bullet or a Provari. The 3-battery RX200 is a little too hefty/heavy for out and about use.

I tend to use my Regulated mods when I am out of the house, notably my iStick Pico. I love my mechs, but I also love heavy, beefy mechs, but I am up and moving too often to pocket carry a mech(Never have a bag with me, personal preference. If it doesnt fit comfortably in my pocket it gets left behind). When I am home, and relaxing on my porch I am all Mech. The vape you get off them is just pure, There is no bucking from the chip, no cutout, instant fire as soon as you press the button, and your vape can be fine tuned to deliver what you want, without fail every time.

I use my Mech's mostly around the home or short hops, and my VW devices with tanks for work, longer drives etc. Which do I prefer? I like using both, for me and the device I choose to use, is like the ole saying "having the right tool for the right job". :headbang: (and the mood I'm in....)

Both have their quirks and everyone's got different irks. :)
I just got a Wismec RX75 recently that has me reaching for it above my mechs these days.... it has a sweet door-switch (squeeze the whole mod to fire it), uses 18650 but has a shorter profile than your typical 18650 mech by a good 3/4".... AND it has a mechanical lock. :2cool: No more 5-clicky for me.

Tube mechs are the vaping equivalent of a flaming torch

I use both.

Often if I am out walking, biking, driving, etc I will grab my Pico with a tank, but I also use my Reos when out. At home I have a mix, but generally keep my regulated mods with tanks on the coffee table for no-look, no-drip, no-hassle vaping while watching TV.

In my cave I have an assortment of all mechs (tubes, Reos, dual battery) with tanks and RDAs - and that's where the magic happens. ;)

I hear you. I also don't want to mangle my good mechs.

I am heading out camping in a few hours and the two on the left (Provari Radius and authentic Nemesis) will be staying home. iStick and mangled SX Mini for around the fire for me! I will also bring my Chi You clone....

After starting out with reg'd mods, I turned myself way further into mechs. I started out with a Provari/Nautilus Mini set up, moved to an OG Sig100w that I still have and won't ever get rid of because the thing is a tank and I've never had a problem with it. Then I got an IPV Mini 30w & Sigelei 50w VR2 for on the go use.
The IPV mini failed right after warranty was up. The chip in it is inaccurate and doesn't push an actual 30w. I got a clone FUhattan mod & from there I made a switch to mechs. Now my rotation is as follows:
Home/Work Studio use:
Dos Equis v2, Roundhouse 24mm, EVE Munequita (just got it and love it)
On the go use:
Silverwolf Customs Hollow Point, Brass Limitless.
The only reg'd mod I use now is my DNA200 Rolo with a varitube 510 installed just because it's a great mod & fires down to .03 in power mode. It's also great for coloring low ohm builds.
I'm mostly an RDA guy but I have a couple 528 Monster v3's & an Atlantis v2/Clieto. I gotta pick up the RTA section for the clieto if I ever want to actually use it again.
I'm just sure to bring a couple sets of batteries with me & have a charger in work studio. Mechs over Reg'd mods any day to me because all reg'd mods are pretty much the same exact thing these days with the exception of the SX Mini ML (Q class is ugly AF IMO) & the DNA 200 mods with long battery life.
Side note, I do want to check out that dual battery DNA75 mod that came out recently. Just can't remember who makes it.

I had a couple of RX200's and they are great mods for the money. Not the most durable mods ever made (I.e. don't drop one!), but the battery life was great at 30-50w. I got rid of them due to size and I just had too much stuff. The stock 510 isn't great by any stretch either.

Question.... Do you use different strength juices when using your mechs? I am 6mg across the board mainly (RDAs, 12w/1.8ohms on a Provari, 40w/0.25ohms on a SX Mini M, etc.) but down to 1.5-2.0mg on an 18650 mech with a 0.4-0.5 build.
