Got the "those things are bad for you" from a smoker today when I was vaping in my office. I was busy so I didn't have the time to convince the guy otherwise. I just don't understand it. Why would this be bad for me and somehow smoking would then be better? Seems like simple logic to me. Even if they aren't 100% safe they have to be safer than burning things and breathing the fumes.

God i hate when smokers give those comments. I get that all the time it feels like. I dont care though because i feel way healthier. Another one i hate is the "i heard those things put water into your lungs".
good lord theres a new one everyday, explosions, water in lungs, you name it. According to the CDC, Smoking is the number one cause of death. Heart disease, cancer and stroke all caused by cigarettes as well.
One thing i did learn in college is that the numbers do not lie. If a math problem works itself out to be a certain solution...than thats what it is. I trust the statistics i suppose and vaping has been around about 12 years now. I have friends who have vaped for about 7-8 and they look pretty dang healthy to me.

I certainly agree that e-cigs are healthier and the good news is that we are slowly getting some nice studies supporting the long touted claims. However, I think you might want to recheck your math.

This is from Wikipedia:

"The original inventor of the electronic cigarette concept was Ruyan (or Hon Lik) and his first patent was registered in 2003. One year later, Ruyan’s first international patent was also registered."

And there is more data here: http://casaa.org/E-cigarette_History.html

They were introduced in EU in 2006 and the US in 2006 & 2007.

In all honesty here, I was very reluctant about e-cigs in the beginning. I seen the commercials, people using them etc. I never understood how they worked or why they worked. A friend had purchased a twist from a local B&M here and I tried it and thought it was pretty interesting. So I waited...

My curiosity became insanely overwhelming and the gears started turning. In the end of May, I started looking online about e-cigs and what they are all about. I ran across ECF (browsed as a guest) and submerged myself into it; reading and more reading. My curiosity had peaked and it was time to make the move (that and cigarette taxes were going up too).

I've been analog free a month today! I'm grateful for choosing to be knowledgeable and aware of what the vaping community is all about! This community here helps so many people!

The moral of the story really is..It's one thing to dislike something after you've researched and educated yourself about it. It's another to be ignorant and have an opinion.
