Thought I would introduce myself:

Hi, my name is Kythcat, and I'm still kind of new to vaping. I actually found out about this site over a year ago when I saw a news story about e-cigs. It looked interesting so thought I would give it a try. Instead of researching like I should have, I bought a kit of Smoke 51 at the local tobacco store. Used them for about a month. They weren't bad, but since I was still adjusting to them, kept having the problems with it shutting down. On the upside of this, I was smoking the regular cigs a lot less. The whole episode ended when I accidently washed the batteries in my jeans one day.

My kids have been after me to quit smoking for years now. I really don't want to give up the habit, but since I started looking into this over a year ago, it seems like the best of both worlds for my family.

I'm looking at getting the 501 in January when taxes come back. Several reasons I chose this one is that they are refillable (still working on how to do that), there's a button to push which will eliminate the shut-off problems I was having with the 51s, and the fact that (and my kids love this part) I will be able to smoke the computer in more ways than one, will also save on the frustration of batteries dying when I need them the most.

I'm just wondering, though, is there something else I'm missing in my search for a safer way to smoke? There's just soooo much info on this forum that I am having a hard time trying to wade through it all to make sure I get the best bang for my buck. Anymore info I need? And if I do get the 501 and the PT, am I able to use an USB extention cord to give me some more room?

By 501 do you mean the Joye 510? If so, then get it! You can get the starter kits pretty cheap from Cignot. One kit even has the usb passthru you want included. I believe you can use a usb extension. I made a homemade passthru last week, and I'm going to try one myself so I can attempt to lay on the bed/couch and watch t.v. with it.

The one thing you might not be prepared for is the hunt for the right juice. It can be difficult to find something you like, so I'd suggest checking out some reviews to find what sounds good to you. Also, if you find yourself buying too many juices you don't like with no luck on finding one you do like, check out the Pay It Forward section on the forum. You can get rid of juices you don't like, and try new ones to find your sweet spot.

That's the one I was talking about. Went to Cignot and looked around. Might end up ordering before January at those prices.

I understand about the juice. I'm mostly going for just a plain tobacco flavor for now, then when I'm ready, will try with the flavors. I don't want to do the flavors and then have my kids start up this habit.

I believe there's 3 types of USB cords/devices. One is a just a charger, the other is a 'passthrough' which let's you vape while plugging in at the same time (i'm not sure if it charges at the same time) and another is a box/case which you charge up first and then use that to re-charge the batt while travelling (ppc - portable pocket charger ?).
