Ah, this again.

There will always be people who will pay $200 for a metal tube. Those people will continue to be unhappy that others can pay $30 for a device that is nearly indisguinshable.

In the end the mod Makers aren't starving. Go try to buy an original Nemesis. You can't because they're always out of stock. Fools and money, you know... Lol.

Here is my take of this WEEKLY Clone post thing.

It is about time people took responsibility for their own choices.
It is also time for People to Stop judging others for their PERSONAL Choices.

As to counterfeits - I firmly believe a counterfeit is something something is trying to sell you as an Original.
A Clone is an Exact DNA replication of a previous Sheep/Cow/etc.

Somewhere out there
I have no problem with knockoffs and clones that are unbranded or have the actual clone brand name on them.

I really dislike the counterfeits that put someone else's logo and fake serial numbers on their products. It just strikes me as sleazy and I'd be embarrassed to be seen with one. Not that anyone I know would recognize any of these mods. But the same applies to counterfeit handbags, watches and other products.

My standard argument in the Clones / Counterfeit argument uses a quite understandable motorcycle reference...

Harley Davidson for decades has been making what many consider to be an American Icon. Over the years many other companies, mainly from Japan, have made what I would call Clones... Boulevard, V-Star, Shadow, etc... They aren't exactly like a Harley, but they most certainly take their queues from Harley. I don't have a problem with this...

But if you attempt to sell a bike that looks just like a Harley in every way, right down to a fake VIN and Harley logo on the Gas Tank... Well, that's taking it just a little too far.

Patents, intellectual property, and all that crap aside, I just think it's in bad taste. Especially when we're talking mods like the Nemesis replica with serial and logo, chi-you replica with logo, ithaka clone with logo and serial... Shameful.

Is it because the "Originals" didn't have the design patented / copyrighted? Would that change things? Where do we draw the line?

I have no issue with clones... But I do have an issue with fakes...

5 pages. This thread needs some tacos.

From Yahoo Answers - Which one came first? Taco Bell or Del Taco?

Originally named Casa Del Taco (House of the Taco), the first Del Taco restaurant was founded in Yermo, California in 1961 by Ed Hackbarth.

After experimenting with alternative food items, Glen Bell opened three Taco-Tia stands between 1954 and 1955, which he later sold to his partners. He then opened the first Taco Bell in Downey, California on March 21, 1962.

Hope this helps each of us decide where to spend our taco dollars.

For me it's a moral thing, I only buy Tacos made in Mexico by Mexicans. I hope people can live with spending their Taco dollars in American clone shops.

I look at it this way... The clones are GOOD... They force the creators of the originals to stay within a reasona ble price... They let poor students like you and me have s sort of luxury item to treat ourself with for our hard work
If you see a 200$ mod you can kinda test drive it before you buy the real deal

I buy clones and i dont feel bad

Every device out right now is a clone. Only thing that is not is the very first carto and battery. Everything from there on was based on this setup. I have no problem with"clones". Vice versa with the "real" devices. But some of these mech's these days are getting crazy priced. I guess as long as people continue to buy them the price will stay high.
