Funny you say that Hippiebrain ... was reading this thread, but was not going to comment as I have zero experience with any of it, but am interested. However your comment brought to mind something I am confronted with constantly.

I work in the wine industry, and there are a lot of wine snobs out there, that will tell you want is good and what isn’t, and if you don’t agree with them then there is something wrong with you. ( not that anyone has done that here… no one has, but your comment reminded me of that )

I usually lean over and tell those the new folks, that no one can tell you what you like or don’t like, they can only tell you what they like or don’t like. You like what you like, and you cannot be wrong about what you like.

I am going to take the slow path, although I suspect I would like the HV setup as described here, I’m just taking baby steps toward it...trying a LR atmoizer first.. it is in the mail.

In the mean time, I just read and learn.

Perhaps one of these days after my two daughters wedding are over ( both in the next couple of month s ) I will spend some money and try a few things.

There is personal preference and there is physics.

LR is a way to boost the watts of low voltage devices. It is not opinion that a fixed or variable REGULATED device will give a consistent amount of power(watts) through the battery cycle. It seems from experience, but also theoretically, you would not get the longevity out of LR as you would a regular atomizer. That is why I recommend a regulated variable voltage device with regular resistance atomizer. You can then "dial in" to your preferred wattage.

I am sure that is true... and I don’t know if I will like this LR atty or not... but it was a cheap way to tip toe into this area.

I personally would love a variable voltage system and will be getting one when my wallet recovers from my daughter’s weddings. Thinking of a variable voltage bottom feeding box mod.... but expect that will not be cheap.

I am also sure that people like what they like, and that is ok too. I know a guy that just loves White Zinfandel, and while all the wine snobs turn up their nose… I just smile, he likes what he likes.

I think your approach is perfectly reasonable - I was speaking more "in a perfect world what should I do scenario". I just kind of stopped typing 'cause I need to try to get out the door to an appointment - I think I need to break my ECF addiction. :)

I have to agree, if you like what you have, stay with it. I'm fairly new but, I'm not feeling that I need to change the vapor that much. For me, consistency and convenience is the issue. So, I'm more interested in feeder systems. I'll give some LR cartomizers a try because they are cheap but, I doubt I'll be going that route. It's all about what works for you.

To paraphrase Duke Ellington, if it feels good, it is good. I have found that my sweet spot is an LR 510 atty at 3.2-3.7V. Regular resistance at 5V is too harsh for me, but variable voltage has allowed me to find a great combination of 3.0ohm at 4.5V. I sometimes feel like I go about it backwards, trying to get HV to simulate the experience of 3.7V.

Thanks MickeyRat!

Yeah cyberwolf.... I really do want a variable at some point, and I personally love the idea ( but do not know ) of a bottom feeding box mod, but that will happen only when my daughters get their grubby little hands off my bank account. LOL

I just now ( like today ) started dripping, and am in love with the consistency and flavor of it ... if I could find something that I could set the voltage I wanted, with the atomizer I wanted, tasted and felt like dripping but held a bunch of juice... I would have it all.

Have no idea if I am right or not.

Supposidly, that is what the new (not out yet) Eclipse is made to do. You might want to keep an eye on it:

I will... thanks for the link!

I have also been looking at the variable voltage Monkey Boxx Mod which also seems to have everything I am looking for.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...volt-monkeyboxxvv-variable-voltage-model.html

That looks like a nice VV PV. I refinish old furniture as an occassional hobby so I prefer the wood boxes especially the inlay. I'm not sure from his description if the circuit he is using is a regulated boost circuit. My limited understanding is that the regulated boost circuit maintains the constant power level of the battery output even as the battery drains. If you go that route you may want to query him about it or it may not be a big deal one way or the other.

I’m limited there as well, I know barometric altimeters and thrust recorders like the back of my hand in my hobbies, but not voltage regulators.

I like the look of it, it is BIG, but I would expect something that has everything I am looking for would have to be.

$200 for that considering everything it has in it isn’t bad either.

But I am not settled on anything yet.. .and it will likely be many moons before I try something like that.

wondering where i could find this . I would give it a try. hope you like yours.
I have a BB that I use at 6v all day, every day. You could pick up a pair of protected CR2 batteries from MadVapes and give it a try yourself. It would certainly be a lot cheaper than a passthrough.

Just my $0.02.

Like many I have various PV's - EG have a GLV2 5v and Variable volt pass through (plugged into power modulator 3v to 9v) with many 3.7v devices with many different atties and various ohm ratings. There is no clear winner.

For me when i go out drinking or feel like chain vaping I use a 3.7v and LR combo. Good vapor and cool and not harsh on the throat.

When I feel like I want to more closely replicate an analog and vape less frequently I use a 5v with a lower ohm HV atty. Why? I get more vapor from a 2 second draw than I would with a 4 second draw on a 3.7v LR set up, its warmer, and I get a much bigger throat hit.

At the same time I dont like to do this all the time as it can be a bit too harsh for me, so its nice to be able to chain vape a cool cloud of LR vapor at other times as well.

The only thing I cant do is ever use a standard atty on a 3.7 V again lol, although my partner is totally content to only ever use a Joye 510 PV with standard carto's and standard 306.

Each to their own
