But, i still have that same almost brand new pack of ciggs in my car. im almost affraid to throw or give them away. in a way at first it felt almost as a comfort to have them just there. but now im almost tempted to light one up and cant rid them.

ROFL! We posted at nearly the same time. I just tossed mine - you'll see in another thread. Do it when it feels right, I think...

If you resist for a little bit, and vape a bit higher nicotine level, see if the feeling goes away. I've definitely been there. I have the 36mg for those times, the 24mg for morning, and 11-18mg for the rest of the day.

I carried a pack in my coat pocket for 2 weeks, I was then comfortable enough to throw them away. We're all different though, you will know when its time. When I first started vaping I had given my sister all my cigs, then I found the pack above under my car seat. I don't know, if I knew they were here right away, I think I would have smoked them.

When I started, I smoked up my last pack (cause I'm too cheap to get rid of anything unused) and never looked back after that. BUT I had a bag of pipe tobacco I had purchased while trying out herbal vaporizers as an alternative to smoking before I discovered e-cigs. ANd I kept that in a drawer, untouched, for almost a year before finally throwing it out. :D

Addy's right, you'll get rid of when the time is right for you. :thumb:

I have an upopened pack somewhere in the back of the pantry..I lost track of it! It's my hold out pack..I know it's there..I can have it whenever I want it, but it's got to be skunky after 8 months!:p

I've always heard of alcoholics doing that, I'm sure it's the same for us.

Addiction is addiction, right? The brain has to protect itself from scarcity, artificial or real. If the dependency is physical that becomes even more true. "Survival instinct" is going to kick in, and hoarding things we "need" is right up there, I'd think!

[edit to add: I'm hyper-logical. Vulcan-logical. Just the way I'm wired. Being able to reason an emotional response helps me to decide whether I want to accept the emotion or over-ride it. I'm odd that way. :) ]

My story on this is just a bit different. I quit smoking entirely by accident after having my first PV for about 10 days.

Late one night, my pack was empty and I couldn't find any. I didn't want to to the store (I live way out in the country.) so just used my PV to get buy till morning. When morning came, I found that I didn't want to buy more, so I just went on vaping.

Three days later, I found the 2 missing packs. One now lives at home and the other is in my glove compartment. I keep them because they're my "tropies", not because I might want one. :)

I haven't even had a hint of a desire for a real cigarette since that night. :D :D :D

There's an open pack in a drawer out in the garage. I had to tape it shut - one morning I stumbled out there out of habit and almost lit one up, not because I had to have one, but because that's what I had done every morning for 22+ years in this house (when we built this house I decided I wasn't going to smoke in it).

About a month after I started vaping and quit smoking, I opened my desk drawer and found an unopened pack of my old favorites under some paperwork. I had to call the Bomb Squad (my husband) and ask him to dispose of the pack asap so I wouldn't be tempted to smoke. He gladly did so - and I'm still smoke-free five weeks later.

I don't want the temptation in the house. Why go looking for trouble?

the weird thing for me is lately I have really been WANTING a cigarette. probably for the past week now. I still has 6 packs unopened in the fridge (see addy's thread) but I KNOW my VK will get me through it :)

I had this happen to me for a couple of days in a row. I don't know what that was about. Made it through but it was work.

I had some weird cravings a couple weeks ago, too - I even dreamed that I had a cig and liked it. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with nicotine, though. I know I am getting plenty of that, since I have to be careful not to be too wired up to get to sleep.

OH MY GOOOOOODDD!!!

I LOOVE the light saber mods in your sig, CrippledBazooka! :D :D

I brought a few sonic screwdriver toys with me to see if I could get the engineers here to mod them into e-cigs for christmas presents, but I've been so busy with the real work I never got around to it.

Maybe there's still time.... :D
