Based upon feedback, it looks like I want to protect the threading and center pin the most on my VAMO. I have seen many people recommend either a:
  • 510/510 connector
  • 510/ego connector
  • tank Airflow Controller

Now I switch a lot of clearos/tanks throughout the day, and my first Ego Battery had the pin get pushed down, so I am very careful at twisting my Clearo's and tanks down now. However, I do like the idea of using an adapter and then screwing my clearo's/tanks on to the adapter.

Since I do switch from clearo's with ego threading to ProTanks with 510 threading, it doesn't appear there is an adapter that is compatible with both threads. If that is the case, the adapter wouldn't really do anything since you would have to screw the adapter off just as much as the tank if you were switching from a 510 to ego or vice versa.

Do I have that correct, or is there an adapter that I can just attach to the top of my Vamo that has treading for both ego and 510?

Thanks for all your help so far with my Vamo, I want to make this powerful PV last since I am loving it.

The 510/ego adapter will work for 510's and ego's.. But I like that idea of the air flow controller with the 510/ego!!

So I went ahead an ordered an airtank controller, which should arrive tomorrow. However, I found a 510/ego adapter at a local vender and picked it up yesterday. It works with my ProTank and some of my ego threading clearos like iClears, but I do use EVODs a lot and the threading didn't work for that clearo. Do you know of any adapters that will work for EVODs as well as other egoThreaded and 510s?

I was using the nova tank solo and constantly got the LOW LOAD error. I was at my local smoke shop and the guy suggested a 510 to eGo adapter. It works great, no more error. Only complaint is it make an already huge device that much taller

I've never needed an adapter with a Vision vivi nova on my Vamo 2. Just wondering if you have a Vision vivi nova.

i had a problem with threads loosening on a couple of my mods and i ordered a couple of the disk style air flow controllers.

BE CAREFUL WITH THEM......

the center pin on the disk style air flow controllers ( the style where it screws on, then the tank, ect screws on top, and you adjust the airflow by screwing the center disk up and down) is WAY to long, and if you screw it down all the way on your mod and then screw a tank down all the way, the center pin will do one of two things.

1. it will push the center pin in your mod down and mess your mod up
2. if you screw your tank down and not tighten it all the way, it will let your tank move around some and if you bump it it will snap the 510 connector off on your tank

what i did for one of my control heads that had an issue with loose threads is i bought one of the air flow controllers, put the tank on it and screwed it all the way down as far as it would go on the controller without over tightening it, just snug with the air flow regulator ALL THE WAY OPEN SO NO AIR IS IMPEADED ( SO IT LOOKS LIKE A FLAT DISK), wrapped tape around the tank and the controller as not to scratch it,chucked up in a vise and with a fine flat file removed about 1/2-3/4 the material on the bottom pin. youll want to judge how much to remove as ive done several now and have found that the pins vary slightly in length, but i found that you really only want about 1/32 of an inch of material sticking up beyond the end of the male 510 connector. you want to remove just enough where your tank screws all the way down on the 510 female with the slots, but the pin barely protrudes out of the bottom.

NOW, do realize that tanks have different pin lengths, ect. i did find that i had only one tank that wouldnt work after, BUT all i had to do is pry the tanks bottom center pin up just a hair and it worked prefectly after that.

ALSO do remember that if you take too much off the pin on the air flow controller, dont sweat it. the pin is brass, and a little dab of silver solder on the bottom of the pin will fix it right up....
since i do this with all my mods as soon as get them, and no more loose threads. if yu wear the threads out on the air flow controller, throw it awat and buy another. this way you never have any problem with threads in your mods control head wearing out.. mod heads are expensive, and most of the time the female 510 is made of brass, so they DO wear out fairly fast if your a chain vaper like me and like to try different tanks ( ive got tanks for every flavor i use). a modified $3.00 air flow controller is alot cheaper than having to buy a new control head for your mod because you wore the threads out

oh, and by the by, the modified air flow controller still works perfectly as designed after being modified......

if a moderator wants to move this to another section, no problem. let me know via PM and send me a link and ill take some pix of an unmodded air flow controller and a modded one side by side so everyone can see the difference and post them.

GOOD IDEA. i do like using the air flow controllers though, as once you get that pin issue delt with, you put it on and forget it. saves your threads in your mod as your screwing into the controller and not the 510 on the mod. if the threads in the air flow controller wear out, no problem, for $3.00 you pull it off and throw it away.

Please post a link to the controller you use . Thanks
