I have a similar story. I've been cigarette free for 14 months except for one Cuban cigar I smoked with my bro-n-law as we chatted on the back porch while sipping Gran Centenario Anejo Tequila and drinking Genesee Cream Ale.
They found a spot on my lung May 2016. When I left the doctors office I threw a 1/2 pack out the window and never lit another cigarette.
I had surgery to remove the upper lobe of my right lung, that was almost exactly one year ago today. Lymph nodes they removed from the area proved to be cancer free. I've had 3 follow up with the Oncologist with good results.
Lots of people have asked me how I seemed to quit smoking so easily to which I reply "I was highly motivated"
vaping is a crutch for the nicotine addicted which I have accepted.

Today marks 3 years since I received an eGo starter kit in the mail and smoked my last cigarette. The switch was immediate - I never lit up again after taking the first vape. I kept the remaining 1/2 pack of Marlboro Reds in my truck for about three weeks as kind of a "security blanket" before realizing I'd never smoke again and tossed them in the trash.

Vaping is the only mechanism which was effective for me to quit smoking. I tried nic gum, patches, Chantix, hypnosis, cold turkey, etc. Only vaping worked and it worked immediately.

I share your amazement. In the beginning, I read of people celebrating several years. I wanted so much to be able to be that far along, but I wondered if it would really happen. It did! I'm 4 years free now (the 2nd of July), and I still can't believe it.

You've got this, inswva! Congratulations!

I had to fight tooth and nail to quit with that ego-kit, and had tried everything for decades to quit, but finally did it with that type of setup. Every year is a new landmark, don't ever let anybody tell you it's not. Buy or do something for yourself to celebrate, you damned well deserve it. :thumb:
