Is throat hit more a function of the nicotine level, the e-juice composition/brand, the amount of vapor or the actual e-cig you purchased?
I guess I mean the feel that I am actually "smoking", if that makes sense. What do you mean by throat hit?
There seem to be differences in what people mean.
Hey WV...I think public opinion varies quite a bit on this subject; however, A poll has been conducted on this forum...check it out

I've only ever really tried the High and Extra High varieties and the throat hit seems to me to be more reliant on the charge of the battery than the flavor/brand of the liquid.
So if you switch from a battery you have been using for let's say an hour, leave the atomizer and cart the same and put in a freshly charged battery, you will have more vapor and more throat hit?
Thanks, blotter for your experience. So far, you are saying that the screwdriver gives you the best throat hit, more consistent vapor and longest battery charge?Well I'm sure this will vary depending on what device you're using but I've noticed this for sure exactly like you describe. I wouldn't go so far as to say only an hour, but maybe halfway through a battery charge with my 901's. Can go from "vapor with little throat hit" to "vapor with significant throat hit" just by adding a fresh battery.
That is why I've been getting new devices. Got a screwdriver and it's great. Battery is essentially going to give me consistent results until the battery is dead though it's still the same atomizer so I picked up a pilot from puresmoker to check out how it's atomizer does. Can't speak on that since it hasn't arrived though I'm a little worried from reading reviews about a faint throat hit. Oh well. Trial and error, right?

Yep, in a nutshell. It does have it's downsides, though few. First, it's large and bulky and not really possible to let hang out your mouth without risking it falling out. Doesn't look anything like a cigarette. Manual switch decides to not work about 2% of the time (likely user error). No visual feedback like a light at the end or anything like that. In the end, you're still using a 901 atomizer so you'll get similar results that you would get from a fully charged 901. Also, older models have a weak spot where the atomizer connection can fall out requiring service from Trog. He's stated that he's since fixed that flaw however.
So there are trade offs though they were definitely worth it for the upsides to me. Long (real long) battery charge. Consistent throat hit/vapor for the life of the battery. Cheaper batteries for the life of the device (about 4 for $7 from dealextreme.) Not worrying about getting faulty batteries from vendors (or if they are, they're dirt cheap so you don't worry about it.)
Hope this helps.
Don't do this it tends to burn up your atomizer!I have discovered if you hold your finger over the atomizer hole for just a second while taking a drag, the atomizer heats up more and gives a much better throat hit.
