Is it possible?

I've gone down from the 18mg stuff to juices that vary between 6-9mg and I'm finding the throat hit is perfectly fine for me, but it's noticeably less than the 18mg stuff.

I'd love to work my way down to 0mg, but I can't imagine vaping without a throat hit.

Are there devices and setups capable of delivering TH without the inclusion of nicotine? It'd be awesome to be able to someday get on the zero nic stuff.

Thanks guys!

If you vape PG on its own, you'll find that isn't always the case. Nicotine is what delivers the actual TH that you feel when vaping. PG really doesn't do much other than work as a carrier for flavors and nicotine extract.

It is possible that you're more sensitive to PG, which is common, which is why you feel more of an irritation, but the actual TH itself is the result of the nicotine in the e-liquid.

That said, there are some that use the hot pepper / capsicum flavors to imitate throat hit. Some report that it works and there's a thread about it below (below the link to the flavoring additive).

If you want throat hit, this would probable be your best bet overall. I plan on ordering some just to test it out and see if it really works.

Higher the PG, bigger the throat hit. Even at 6mg I can pull a pretty decent throat hit out of my dripper with some of my high PG juices.

It doesn't work, it's a different throat hit. Spicy throat hit. Like having needles in your throat.

How much were you using? I've never used it, but would like to do a comparison. Some have said to use drops/ml, like you do with EM, while others mix based on a %.

I vape mostly zero nic juice which has no TH. I make my own juice so I can mix anything I want. I've tried alcohol, menthol, cinnamon and hot pepper in various amounts. I've taken the power up to 35 watts. Nothing I've tried approaches the effect nic has on my vape.

After slowly reducing the nic levels in my juices I vaped zero nic exclusively for about nine months. Doing it this way it was not much of an effort (for me) to get used to the flavor, the lack of TH and the lack of the mental effect nic produces. It's amazing just how adaptable we really are. These days I typically have a juice or two around that has about 4 mg of nic in it, but I don't use it every day and if I use it too much I get tired of it.

I'm in the same boat. Although - I can produce a throat hit from zero nic juice by vaping it at .3 ohms. Actually, sub-ohming is the reason I was able to decrease my nic level so efficiently. I'm at zero nic most of the day - a few times a day just for a little nic-rush, I'll drip a couple drops of 2 mg juice into my RDA on top of the zero nice juice. It increases TH dramatically, so only a few drops are needed (or tolerated). This is at .4 to .5 ohms. I don't feel the need to go any lower these days.

For the most part, my nicotine cravings are gone. Turns out it's all the other stuff in cigarettes that keep us hooked. At least that's been my experience. If you're looking to decrease nic, look into sub ohming - guaranteed results. Just make sure you study up and do it right (safe vaping!).

In my opinion, at this point in time, nothing can replicate throat hit from nicotine.
Not additives, not menthol, not sub ohming. I've tried them all. The best way for me to have my throat hit is to refrain from vaping for an hour or so to let my throat "recover" its sensitivity. The first vape is always bliss to me. After that, TH diminishes.

The first hit in the morning is always the best where your throat is quite sensitive :)

try adding more PG.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, PG doesn't really add to the throat hit like it's rumored. PG carries flavor better and produces less vapor, VG mutes flavor and produces more vapor. That's about all they do. Throat hit comes from Nicotine, or you have a sensitivity to PG which replicates the irritation; which is common as many have such a sensitivity. Some can live with it, some can't and have to move to VG or a VG based liquid (such as VG + Ethyl Alcohol, VG + Distilled Water, VG + Saline, or a combination of all three).

I've tested 100% PG and most of what I vape is 60/40 or 70/30. The PG content doesn't matter when it comes to throat hit and that's not just me speaking, it's based on me testing my DIY on others who vape locally and sending some of my DIY to friends in other states. Short of additives to simulate, you're not going to mimic the TH that Nicotine gives you from PG alone, or PG in a blend.
