Throat hit

Let me first put this out there, I'm pretty new to this. That being said...

I like pipe flavored liquids. I'm not that concerned with nic levels although I prefer to keep them on the low side as I'm not using this to come off of regular cigarettes, I haven't smoked them in over 15 years. I do like throat hit though. Is there a correlation between throat hit and nic levels? Can I keep the nic level down and still get decent throat hit? Is there something that I can add to the liquid to tailor the TH to what I like?

My first try was an e-cig with high nic and I got considerable TH and my wife used one with low nic and there was barely any TH so that's why I'm asking.

From what i have read/understand, the two main things that effect TH are the nic lvl and the PG level (the higher the nic or pg, the more TH and vice versa). Higher PG mixes also likely have better flavor profile/transfer. I believe some people also add very tiny amounts (ie drops per many ml) of grain alcohol to improve TH.

Tons of information regarding DIY, can be found in the DIY forums, but essentially you need a nicotine base in either PG/VG in whatever mg lvl you choose to mix with, likely a diluting agent of either pg/vg to reduce your high nic base to vapeable lvls, and your desired flavorings.

Wizardlabs and Perfumers Apprentice (Flavor Apprentice) are just a few of the good sources for nic/flavors.
