For me, I found PG = throat hit. VG = vapor. So, I kept trying different percentages (VaporBomb.com offers a larger variety of percentage mixtures) until I found the right one. Having smoked Marlboro Milds, I find 40% VG / 60% PG to be the best for me. My husband, on the other hand, smoked Marlboro Lights, and my VG/PG mix is too high for him (still coughing and sore throat). He'll prob do better with a 40%PG / 60% VG mixture (maybe even lower PG).

I use 24mg nicotine.

I had been vaping 18 mg with either 80 PG/20 VG and a couple of flavors of 100%VG. Since I chain-vape at night, today, I decreased my nicotine to 12 mg with 80 pg/20 vg. I am currently vaping watermelon from Strictly E-juice. It's a yummy flavor (my first fruit) and I couldn't believe the throat hit - made me cough a bit, but I LOVE it.

The liquid that comes with many ecigs in prefilled carts etc is 100% PG

Nicotine is a skin irritant
PG does very little to buffer the irritation
So medium or high nic in 100% PG can make your tongue or throat sore

That usually doesn't mean you are allergic or need 100% VG juices. You can try PG/VG blends which is what most people use. 70pg/30vg is a popular blend as are 80pg/20vg, 50/50 and more. And you can also lower your nicotine.

I've settled at 70pg/30vg to be a good compromise on flavor and vapor production as well as mildness in the throat hit. Of course some flavors at those levels will be on both sides of throat hit, but tolerable even on the harsh side.

100% pg dries my mouth and causes lung irritation. Drinking water, as others have said, helps. Stay hydrated.

I'm sold on Backwoods Brew mixes for a mellow vape. Of course, Don does create some heavy stuff for those who like it. Hunter's Blend is one of those. I like Don's 555 and Maxboro, as well as Virgina. Malty Toffee is also a milder, but tasty juice.

Backwoods Brew (all 70pg/30vg)

If anyone needs to quickly lower the TH of the juice they have, you can add vegetable glycerin to it. Not all USP Glycerin is 100% vegetable. Humco brand (found at Walmart near the rubbing alcohol) says theirs is all vegetable. Michael's craft stores supposedly sell Wiltons which is use in cake decoration and stuff. And you may find 100% vegetable glycerin in health food stores. You could also try to pick up an empty eyedrops bottle from a pharmacist or any container and an eye dropper.
