Depends on how much you vape and what king of ejuice you vape--dark sweet juices will gunk up your coil in a day or less; the clean, clear ones can be vaped for days. If you vape unflavored, you can go even longer.

But sooner or later both taste and vapor production will begin to diminish--when they do, it's time to grab a new coil. They are disposable. I clean mine a few times by simply soaking them in PGA (or vodka, or denture cleaning tablets) for a few hours.

Sometime I find performance drops off suddenly. There are so many factors I'm often unsure if it's the coil or not. I've been pumping a few syringes of water through them using a "plunger" attachment, then soaking in everclear for an hour. It's sometimes hard to tell how much difference it makes. I'm avoiding dry burning though because I'm frankly afraid of silica wicks. Think I'll switch to cotton.

Soon it will be second nature. You will just be able to tell by reduced vapor or taste. They are really easy to clean and dry burn (see post #4). I keep some silica wick around and usually replace the top flavor wicks when I clean the coil. I only use unflavored liquid so I get something like 10 tank fills before I need to clean, and it cleans up nicely. Silica does not burn, but it can become caked with burnt juice, so depending on your juice, it may or may not clean easily.
