Hi everyone! I've been lurking for the best part of a month and thought it was the time to say hello and introduce myself.

Smoked between a pack and a pack and a half day for about 7 years until I gave up in September 2011 for financial reasons after moving abroad. I never really gave up in my head though and missed smoking every second of every day after I gave up. I managed to make it until March last year without a single cigarette until I was away for a weekend and uttered those famous last words, "Sure, I'm on holiday and I can give up again on Monday". Well, I did give up on Monday, only it was a Monday three months later. I lasted until July before succumbing again - another holiday and more famous last words!

I had planned on trying to give up again after New Year's but having put up with the withdrawal tantrums a few too many times, my wife demanded that I give vaping a try instead of going cold turkey and I haven't looked back. Picked up an Evod starter kit and a few flavours of juice on 9 January and I haven't had a cigarette since. I feel much better, I smell much better and I can wake up in morning without needing to cough a lung up. I don't cough anywhere near as much anymore and when I do, it's no longer a dry, painful smoker's cough. I'm very far from being well trained but I managed to run a few hundred metres a few days ago (to catch a train) without sweating like a lunatic or coughing for an hour afterwards.

And much to my suprise, even my cravings have disappeared to some extent. The thing I really missed most about smoking was that feeling that I could reward myself / take a small break by heading outside for a smoke and I assumed that I would carry over that habit with vaping but I really haven't. I can go an hour or 90 minutes without really thinking about vaping whereas when I was a smoker, I would be climbing the walls long before then. It's actually really improved life at home because I don't need to run out every 30 minutes or straight after dinner so I have more time for the kids and I can actually sit at the table with my wife after dinner and chat for a while. I just wish I had tried vaping a long time ago.

My Evods are still going well (though I decided to add a Protank 3 to the mix) but I picked up an Aspire Premium Kit (Nautilus Mini + CF VV+) and I think I've fallen in love. I had thought about picking up a box mod instead but I'm still a bit shy about vaping in public - I really haven't seen all that many vapers in Stockholm - and I thought a stick style VV was a bit more subtle to use as well as a good entry point for VV/VW mods. But I think a box mod will definitely be the first thing on the list come payday!

I have the istick20 its a tiny little box mod not much bigger than a pack of gum, i have a kanger giant tank on it
i use it in public all the time. so many people ask what is that?, how much was it? and did i quit smoking with it?
even one of the vape shops here dont carry the isticks and ask if he could try it, he said wow thats a pretty impressive little thing.

Thanks guys!

Susan - I've been to that thread a few times already. Generally looking at either the iStick 30W or the eGrip at the moment, not sure whether I value stealth or the ability to customise things more right now. The main problem is that Stockholm has no B&M shops so it's impossible to drop in somewhere and have a look and feel. It will probably end up with me buying both to be honest!

Treeburner & Wissel Joe - It's really just psychological. In my head, the stick style is less likely to draw attention because it more closely resembles a traditional cigarette (even if they're much bigger) so people are more likely to draw the conclusion that it's an e-cig while a box mod is more likely to stick out. But considering how small the iStick is and the eGrip in particular, they'd probably draw far less attention!

It would be good to get both - you'll need at least one back up for your back up :D

.... and welcome to the forum.
