I am a Prodigy (and manual switch) newbie. I'm not clear what is the recommended timing for:

1. Press and hold switch
2. Suck (i.e., "draw")
3. Release switch
4. Stop sucking

Thus far I've been pressing the switch for about a half second before sucking, suck for 2-3 seconds, release switch and stop sucking simultaneously. It seems to be working well.

[Someone reading that description of my technique out of context might get the wrong idea.;)]

Recommedations?

Switch/draw technique was the one thing that I had a little difficulty with when I started using the Prodigy last week.

I had become used to the 510, which required a pre-heat on the atomizer to make it work right. I pressed the switch, waited one or two seconds, then began the draw.

But the Prodigy doesn't need a pre-heat. In fact, if I try and pre heat it, even for a second or less, it seems to burn off enough liquid that it doesn't give a proper hit. I've found that the best technique is to begin the draw the moment that you depress the switch. Don't allow it to heat up without any air passing through the atomizer. Then, at the end of the draw, let up on the button and keep pulling air thorough it for another 1/2 to 1 second. Doing that helps cool down the atomizer and draw out all the remaining vapor from the atomizer chamber.

I gotta agree 100%, from the depths of my current 30 entire minutes of experience with the Prodigy. There is NO need to preheat this sucker, and I'm gonna have to whack that 510 habit -- and forget those long, long draws I'd take off the 510. All this seems to need is a short burst of power.

I was getting an intermittent very bad burned taste... but it is far less apparent (or disappears) if I put the Prodigy in my mouth and start inhaling BEFORE hitting the button (and, yes, let up on the button while still inhaling). I get an immediate STRONG hit of the taste of the juice this way and no burn. Some of the burned taste may be atty primer, I dunno... really never experienced any funky taste with new attys before, not that I noticed, but have always gotten a burned taste now and then, from the 510 and my original 901.

But... yikes. Hit on this just right, it's unbelievable. E-smokeytreats' Cherry low-nic tastes like warm cherry pie with this monster. The 0-nic chocolate, which was very hard for me to taste the chocolate in, tastes like full-blown chocolate. I think I'm in love.

Thank you, everyone! Based on your input I will* be revising my technique to:

1. Suck (moved from #2)
2. Press and hold switch (for about 2 seconds)
3. Release switch
4. Stop sucking (after, not simultaneous with, #3)

* I found that I had a defective 801 adapter, which caused the Prodigy to die on me on Sunday (two days after receipt). So I've been going through Prodigy withdrawal. [Not nicotine withdrawal; that's being handled by my original device: KR808D-1 (dripping into some empty cartomizers to get whatever I can out of them).]

Casey to the rescue: she sent out a replacement adapter on Tuesday, so it won't be long now.:)
