I am wondering - am I supposed to cut down the sides of an empty cart for dripping purposes? So it doesn't burn?

I got one mouthpiece specifically for dripping with my initial kit, but now I'd like to have a second one... Plus this piece is round, and I like the flat ones.

Thanks,
Briar.

Just put two a couple of drops on the atomizer bridge and put the cartridge back on and go for it.
Most people take the filler out of the cartridge but some people leave it in.

If you put too many drops you'll flood the atomizer.

If that happens you'll find you are getting little or no vapor.
Then you just blow it out real hard from the battery side using a paper towel and try again.

How many drips = filled cartridge?
Usually somewhere between 15 and 30 depending on many factors.

And I take it you know the cartridge is empty when no more vapor is produced, right?
Actually, you know the cartridge doesn't have enough liquid near the top to wick into the atomizer fast enough to give you the next drag when it starts to taste kind of like burnt metal, indicating a dry atomizer, which may or may not mean the cartridge is empty.

But it most definitely means you either need to wait awhile, or top off the cartridge with more juice.

As far as I can tell (I just got my dse901 a few days ago) the wool has to stay in the cartridge, that's what holds the liquid? Because a few of my blank cartridges don't have any wool in them.
The original poster is talking about "dripping" which has really nothing to do with cartridges.

I put 2 drops in some cartridges, and barely got any vapor. Then I tried 3, same thing. Then I tried 4 drips (6drips in some) and got a little more vapor. I guess these things just don't compare to analogs in terms of smoke clouds.
When you learn how to use them they certainly can.
In fact, I was using some VG liquid from EcoPure the other day and I had too damn much vapor.

Too much vapor? Whoooohoooo. I use a dse901 "mini" (I'm a noob) and I'd love to get more. I also use 36mg juice from smokeytreats. Does the VG really make more vapor or does it depend on your device?

Just take the bottle and drip a few drops on the atomizer, give it a couple good puffs and it should start producing vapor. Voila!

Directly into the thing that you pop the cart into? Like the thing with the little post thing sticking out of the middle of it? And then hit it from that piece?

VG makes a huge difference. Depending on how much you use, you can be like a mini fog machine :D The down side is, the more you use the less of a throat hit you are going to get (atleast that is my experience).

VG really makes more vapor. No matter what.

Drip onto the wire mesh. Put the cart back on. Then puff away. Be careful.
Depending on what device you use, juice may leak into the battery with bad results.

While dripping is recommended for high voltage vaping, good results
with other devices requires a bit of common sense. Good luck.

Unless you have the sealed manual 901 batteries I would advise against dripping. You will kill your batteries rather quickly. I went thru several before I realized it was me flooding my attys thus flooding my batteries.

My Joye 510 is made for dripping. Sealed manual batteries, I use a 901 cart without any filler that fits it great, drip 3 drops at a time and get a good 30 minutes of solid vapor that way. Drip directly on the atty bridge, not down the sides of the atty. I've had it for 6 weeks now and the only atty I've had problems with was all my fault, not the atty's fault.

Mesh? Is that what that post in there is? When I think of mesh, I think of something like a wire mesh for a... oh heck, I don't even know.
