Hi, i've been using my Riva 510 for a week now and im loving it (sort of)......
im using it with Gold & Silver tobacco flavour 18mg Nicotine, with the standard battery, atomizer and cartridges. the thing is although i want a nice lung full of vapour, my current set up seems to feel a bit harsh and can sometimes make me cough.
i would like to maintain the quantity of vapour im inhaling, but with a smoother feel? im not sure if im explaining this well, but hopefully someone gets me?

on a side note, im assuming cartridges can be re-used time and again as long as the foam is replaced?

low resistance atomizer will make a HUGE difference! i have a rive as well and the LR atty gives twice the TH compared to the stock atty. try it, you will never go back.
not only will you get a bigger TH but the vapor production will improve a lot!

EDIT: sorry, i thought you were looking for more kick. my bad.(next time i promise to read the OP's post completely.

1. standard resistance atty or cartomizer instead of low resistance. The Riva may have some with 2 low resistance attys. Low resistance vapes hotter and hotter = more TH.

2. More VG in your eliquid - how much VG is in it? If it's PG liquid try a 70pg/30vg juice. If it's a Chinese PG juice and you like it, just buy a smaller bottle of the same or similar flavor in VG and try mixing 1 part VG flavor w/ 3 parts of the PG flavor, both in the same nicotine level if you want the result to be the same nic level.

carts - buy the precut blue foam stuffing for 510 at strictlyejuice.com. The white stuffing in your carts will eventually get nasty. You can try to clean it or try the blue foam. A lot of people like blue foam stuffing. I like that it has even consistency, wicks well, rinses out very well (hold under running tap water then pat totally dry). And it's less likely to give burnt stuffing taste than the white stuffing.

Try a 901 atty. Little cooler, smoother vape. You'll need a 510 to 901 adapter though. There are many threads on carts, cartomizers and atty's. A whole sub forum actually. Good Luck.

That would be my advice too. 510s are acknowledged give a good throat hit - and it sounds as though you want a bit less.

Hello & welcome Cooperidol ;)

Agrees with Nic Fan & THV - the 901 attie (my fave) gives a smoother vape.

Also agrees with Dormouse, go for an e e-liquid with a higher VG content. Plus try holding the vapour in your mouth for a couple of seconds before completely inhaling it.

Personally, I would give yourself some time to learn how to use it. There are ways to draw on it that will make it harsh or light.
I'm saying this because I'm only into this 5 wks myself w/ the same equipment. It's nothing like using an analog.

Keep your attys clean, and you battery charged. These will also affect you vapor production. Also the juices that you use.

Keep at it, and lose the smokes! Bob
