Aaaaack! (where's the Bill the Cat smiley?)

Mostly just in the mood to ..... here, but really, I can't believe I'm going through 6 batts in a day. Seems to be getting worse -- like I'm always stepping out for a vape, only to have the batty dead after a couple puffs. And constantly cycling my batts through the charger. Yeah, it's only 180mah, and I'm more edumikated about such things now than when I started out, but even so, I read a lot before settling on the 510, and I figured 3 batts would pretty well last me the whole day. Maybe I'm vaping more heavily than I anticipated. Or these batts are just going south way too quickly, i.e. not holding as much charge. But it's been only 7 weeks since I started. Worst case that's 2 charges/day for 49 days -- call it 50 since today's Sunday. That's just 100 cycles, which is more than they actually have, since I was still smoking a bit at first, and the one batt has about 2 weeks less usage. Shouldn't most Lithium batts go for 300 cycles or more?

Whatever. :p

Anyways, wasn't in my budget to shell out appx $100 for a batt mod, especially not this soon after my startup purchases. Yeah, I know some mods are less than that, but add in a couple extra batts and close enough.

But ... I think I want something around 1000mah. An all-day batty. Kinda sounds like the 900mah eGo isn't quite ready for prime-time. I could take a 650mah eGo to work, and vape my 510 batts at home while it's charging, I guess. Or, kill one of my batts for the connector and make a ghetto mod to use 3 AA NiMH rechargables. That's the cheapest solution I can think of, though I don't know the mah I'd get from those -- but I have some already, and another 4-pack is only about $15.

Or I could get a 14500 batt/charger kit, and thow a mod together, again not too expensive, and probably I can get the batts at the local batteries Plus store.

Anyways, thanks for listening. Any suggestions for something cheap and quick to put together?

Oh, and don't forget to bring me a shrubbery.

Just got the ego on Friday n charged it firday nite. Used it all day Saturday at a nieces birthday party n used it today Sunday till noon n the batery died at noon. That's awesome! I started like you having to recharge batteries all the time n carrying spares to work. But I had the rn4081 wen I first started vaping 3 weeks ago.
Bought the ego kit with 2 batteries cones and atomizers but let my other half use the second complete ego n hers is still going off the first charge from Friday. But she vapes alot less though

Get a $15 passthru for home vaping, eGo for on the go. You did mention "stepping out for a vape" so maybe a PT isn't an option for you.

The eGo though, sounds like the PV for the job in my opinion. Before I got my PT, I used just my two eGo batteries. I just cycled through the two bats each day, I'd start my day with one bat then later on at night I'd end up needing to finally switch it out. I'd always have a couple 510 bats in my pocket in case of emergency, but never needed one.

Anything with more life than an eGo isn't really needed in my opinion. If You can make it through your day on one battery, then simply swap it at night, it doesn't get much easier than that.

My thoughts exactly Jimmy! Wanted to see how long one battery will last for me n ran it till it died. I was vaping heavy all day Saturday it was the perfect test for the ego for me. I ussually smoke 1-1 1/2 packs a day n even more when having a few at a party.

Wouldn't see why I'd need anything else it lasts the whole day

That's it right there. I would already have bought or built a PT otherwise. If I had a good solid 5V supply, such as this APC unit, I'd do a cheap regulated PT to run off it.

I'm resisting the eGo or similar because I just don't want to part with $50+ right now.

If your battery connection or your charger connection get gunked up it will will act as if it's charged when really it's only taking a partial charge. Try cleaning them both up real good, this might help.

ps. I was having that probem and I had just pulled a battery off, it seemed like it charged too fast for an empty battery. I cleaned the threads on the battery and the charger and put it back on. Sure enough it charged again for like an hour and then it kept it's charge.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a shot.

definately vaping heavy, as I am discovering a lot are on this forum. Me being a 1.5 pack of marlboro unltra lights a day am vaping a 510 and the batt lasts an average 4-6 hours for me and it seems to be enough to where I have only have had 2 analogs in 2 days.
everybody is different. If you need more, maybe go up on the mg's of nicotine and vape less?

Man I knew this thread would generate bustle...My :2c:..Went through the same BS with my 510 bats...Got a bb/indulgence/chameleon. all paid for with the $ saved on cigs...Batterys for these last a day to 3 days depending on how much I vape..I am set! very happy & content with these...Try a Mod...You will not be disappointed..
FYI...The indulgence only cost 59.99 for the whole kit/3 adapters

Yeah, I'm a bit puzzled by that my own self. FWIW, I consider American Spirit Ultra Lights -- what I was smoking -- to be at least 50% stronger than Malboro ULs. I'm already vaping 24mg half the time, and I think the reason is that for me it just takes more vape to get the same satisfaction level. Not sure why, but there it is. I actually plan on settling into a nic level closer to 17mg, once I decide what my std. juice choices are.

I've been looking into it. Doesn't fit my definition of a quick, cheap solution. And probably nothing does. After reading quite a bit last night on LIon batts and chargers, I'm a bit put off on snagging something quick at Batteries Plus and cannibalizing an existing battery. Or buying something like a BB, until I'm sure I'm comfortable with the brand of batts and charger I buy, and the maH rating I need.

Very minimal gunk on a q-tip -- that's from 3 batts and a charger. I did discover today that my USB charger isn't doing the job. Not sure if it's the charger itself, or my hub, which is a powered hub. I'll have to remember to look at the amperage rating on the wall wart for it tomorrow. But I had a batt on there for long enough to vape down my other 2, and it was barely charged. 2nd experiment in progress now at home on that.

FWIW, I ordered a 900maH eGo. Just 1 batt/cone/charger to see how I like it, and how long it lasts. If it gets me through most of a day, I'll probably get more. Otherwise, it buys me some time to consider more powerful options.

Do you mind me asking where you found just one batt/cone/charger? I thought you had to buy them in kits. I might try this, as I am still holding out for a batt mod (like the Chuck) because in the case of a possibility of a ban down the road, I don't want to have to stock up on EVERYTHING -- too expensive. With a mod, it would be just attys to stock up on. But I run across ppl occasionally who want to try it out w/o the purchase of a whole unit first. I wouldn't mind having a spare unit to gain a few converts and save ppl from analog damage. Please and thank you.
