Titanium is "rubbery" during the machining process. Remember playing with gelatin when you were a kid? Machining titanium is sort of like that. Very complex and requires many more machining steps, plus its so tough it eats up cutting tools.

Stainless is the optimal metal. Yes, its a bit heavy but its stronger than aluminum so you don't need thick walls for strength and it also conducts electricity better than aluminum

Umm I hate to contradict but I thought aluminum conducted electricity better. Which would explain why my Alum GGTS hits better then my SSGGTS

I'm with MrKrinkle on this one. Titanium is fine for replacement hip joints but I want my GG's with good old stainless.

I tried on some Titanium watches a few years back and to be honest I did not like the feel of them at all... to me it almost felt as if it was made of cheap plastic and for the price tag that came with it was a turn off...

as we already said, titanium tarnish very easy guys. GG will not fire after some months.

No-Alox should mitigate any oxidation in the threads that would hurt performance. in the end I think there would be very few people who would pay for a TiGGTS.

I re-thought the cost of a Ti GGTS and with all the complex machining required with the number of different parts the cost would probably be more in the $800 range. As nice as it would be I don't think there would be more than a handful of people world-wide who would actually pay a fair price for TiGGTS.

It just feels like that because it is so light, it's actually extremely durable. Heck, it's what they make armor plating on tanks and jets out of :)

I, for whatever reason, love the weight of the SS. Strange as it seems it is kind of a perfect balance to me.

The SS GGTS to me feels like a fine "surgical-grade" instrument... or something that belongs on a vintage steam ship. There's somthing about it's weight and shininess that I would miss in a Ti version.

I have SS trim pieces on my truck that have been outside in the weather for years that do not show any wear. My SS air cleaner covers are 13 years old, and they are still in fine condition.
My point is SS is as good as it gets for durability that holds its appearance and shine, with virtually no polishing.

I understand it is a great medium and useful in many ways... but I did not like the feel of it on my wrist at all and dont think I would like my PV made of it either... just my opinion lots of people like titanium, carbon fiber is also pretty popular but not my style either...

things have to be made depending on their use. Aeroplanes use titanium because its durable and light but they dont care if it gets tarnished because tarnish protects the metal from further corrosion. We dont need that on GGTS. SS is too much more durable in tarnish than titanium.

I hear that. Everything is subjective especially in the vaping world :)

I agree, form must follow function :)

Titanium is durable, there is no doubt about it but it will not overcome the wearings and tearings of useage in time.Scratches will be there no matter how careful you carry it around. I had cell phone/sun glasses that was made from titanium before. So the best way of keeping GGTS unscratch is museum it but that wont happen, at least for me. I think SS is a good application, abit heavy but it is durable enough as well as being cheap.

Actually any metal will scratch. One of the things about Titanium is that the oxide layer it forms is also durable and protects it from corosion. This is the finish that most people recognize as the matte gray color of the Titanium. This layer can and will scratch when it is abraded by something else that is hard, but because it is an oxide it will actually repair itself to a large degree in a fairly short amount of time.

I think that for the most part it is cost that really drives people away. The machining costs for Titanuim are very high and so we would be looking at a TiGGTS costing somewhere around $750 and that only if there were at least some moderate volume in sales to have enough ordered. If the numbers were below say 50 units or so the cost would probably be more into the $800- $850 range.
