Hey all!
Just received some 24 gauge Titanium wire (grade 1) and was super excited to venture into a different world of temperature control. Did my first build following this guide:
http://blog.craftvapery.com/joshs-definitive-guide-to-temperature-control-with-titanium-wire/
Did the exact same build (9 wraps, single microcoil) on my Kanger Subtank Mini sitting on my SX Mini M Class (in Ti01 mode, of course). Tuned my coil exactly as shown in the guide: 6 watts in power mode making sure the coil gently changes colors from the inside out. My coil was looking fantastic! Perfectly positioned on the deck, perfect wraps, no contact between the coil and other parts of the deck, etc. Switch back from power mode to Ti01 Temperature mode. Let the coil sit around so it could cool down. Locked my resistance at 0.31, hit the fire button (not expecting much to happen, as it should be), and BAM! Center of the coil, a little bit of the side of the coil turns that dreaded bright orange and when it cools down, fully coated in Titanium Oxide.
So my question is... have any of you guys had this experience? This was my 5th time trying a microcoil with Titanium and it just isn't working. I was trying spaced coils, which worked alright (vape was inconsistent--sometimes the vape was warm, sometimes it was too cool). I'm considering just giving up and going back to Ni200, but I had high hopes for Titanium. If you guys have any idea what I did wrong, please share, I'm in desperate need of help!
EDIT: Got my Ti from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015C0GZ2E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
