I mix-shake-vape and usually the only steeping my e-juice gets is how long it takes me to empty the bottle. My first batch wasn't perfect but close enough to keep me interested in DIY. I have made a couple of pretty bad e-juices but that's only because I thought something I liked eating would taste great as a vape. It doesn't always work out that way.

Biggest mistake was buying for me was to buy a quart of vg off amazon and made several 10ml bottles of different flavors of juice. All tasted a little weird, smelled my vg and it smelled bad. Threw away all the juice.
I joined ECF and started doing a lot of research. Learned to buy from repubitle suppliers by recommendations from ECF members. Learned that I need to test my vg and pg by vaping just a little by itself.
I studied recipes that had worked for others. Read all about different steeping methods and learned for me some juices needed steeping others tasted good by shaking and waiting 2 days.
Study and have fun, now I actually make some pretty good juice but still learning.

There is an entire forum devoted to DIY juice.

How hard it is depends on what you want to do. If you can read and follow instructions and get some equipment you can do pretty much any recipe you want. If you want to make the perfect flavor for you that is quite a bit harder. Start off with 1 flavor and mix up some juice, it doesn't taste at all so add some more flavor, it now tastes like s..t. Try some other flavor and you now have the basis for your new mix. Add a touch or cream and find out that a creamy cherry tastes like s..t. Maybe some butter cream? No. Eventually find out that if you add a touch of vanilla then a little butter cream and a bit of custard it almost tastes as good as what you can buy already made.

What do you want to do? Find a recipe that you like or come up with your own flavor. One leads to cheaper vaping and the other is the beginning of a great, for some, hobby.

to ecf and the wonderful world of mixing. I'll tell ya right not it is down right addictive.

No shortage of wonderful DIY threads on ecf and when I got interested I did a bunch of reading. You will find it quite easy. There are also so wonderful people of those threads that can answers any questions that you have after reading some about mixing. Good luck to you and have fun with it. :)

Here is another good place to get some information.....Do It Yourself E-Liquid (E-Juice) Recipe Mixing Station!

Something I was thinking about and thought I would add is that more flavor is usually not always better. Think of it like garlic, I don't think anybody would say eating whole garlic would taste good but a little in a sauce is fantastic. I believe more people ruin there first few batches by thinking more flavoring will make it taste better. There is a fine line between too little and too much.
