To clean cartos or not to clean that is the question

I just had a very good experience with Health Cabin. I ordered on December 14, the cartos shipped via Express Mail on December 15, and they arrived on December 20. I do understand, though, that EMS (Express Mail) from China can be a bit of a crap-shoot as regards transit time over the Pacific Ocean.

i put some research, experimentation and effort into cleaning cartos and just couldn't get good results. found it was better to use fresh ones. also they're not for everyone, but ce2 are definitely easier to clean. a soak in vodka gets them clean, and a few runs through an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner gets them like new. better value proposition for a chain vaper.

My :2c:

When I still used Boge cartos as my main hdw setup, I would clean them after one week.
I am not a real heavy vaper. I go through 3 to 5 mls a day. Cleaning the cartos before they
became gunky made a big difference in my opinion, and made cleaning much easier.
I used a syringe from the drugstore that is used for dosing infants. It has a large cone
shaped attachment that fits a carto perfectly. ( fillinator was prolly based on this )
I also used a tiny little brush that is made for cleaning in between braces to help loosen
any gunk, and just flushed with hot water from the tap. Then I would line the cartos
up on the window sill for a few days to dry in the heat from the sun. ( free energy!! )
I could get 2 or 3 cleanings out of a carto before I threw it away.

When I started using DC cartos, I could get 2 or 3 weeks out of them without cleaning.
The only thing I did was to blow all the juice out once a week. I waited until it was ready
to be filled to avoid wasting too much juice. The DC cartos run a little hot, and while it
doesn't burn it definitely cooks the juice, and since there is always a little juice still
in the carto when you fill, I feel that this is a cumulative effect that throws off the flavor.
Blowing through the mouth end, out the batt end, would clear out about a 1/2 to 1 ml
of over cooked juice. The juice would be a lot darker than the original juice, kinda like you
see sometimes when using a tank.

All this aside, even just 1 week of use out of a carto is a lot cheaper than cigs, IMHO. :vapor:

I clean mine sometimes. It depends on the juice that was in it. If and when I do clean them, this is how I do it...

I boil mine for 15 minutes on top of the stove to start, rinse and sling. Repeat once.

Now for the jewelry cleaner:

Get some water almost to boiling...real hot is good enough. Mix it with half vodka.
Sling out as much water that you can get out. Do it into a sink.
Load cartomizers into the jewelry cleaner and add the mix.
Cycle the jewelry cleaner 3-4 times (3 minutes each).
Drain off the water and refill with plain hot water.
Cycle 2 more times.
Drain water and carefully remove the cartomizers.
Rinse under hot water and sling them again to get as much water out as possible.
Now put them into a food dehydrator and set on high. My dehydrator has a top fan to circulate the air.
Leave for 8-12 hours.
Refill and vape.
**If you have long cartomizers or jumbo's, drying time will vary.

I tried my first carto yesterday after 3 years of vaping.I took 3 drags.laughed and threw it in the garbage.Do yourself a favor and check the classifieds and the modders forum for a genesis atty. You'll never worry about a carto/atty again. Each wrap should get you about 10-20 days use. Each wrap costs about 2 cents. There is no solder or filling so the taste is as pure and clean as it can be.
Try to get a stainless steel model(about 60$)it should last forever. The kanthal wire is 4.75$ for a 75' spool and should last about 10 years. Good luck.

I went the cleaning route for the first few boxes of cartos (and ego attys). As many have stated, it wasn't the same as putting in a fresh carto. I generally get several weeks from a carto, which runs about the same cost as a single cup of coffee at McDonalds.

I do still boil and clean some of my cartos, especially when trying the myriad of juices that I've bought. I don't drip, so having some slightly used cartos on hand allows me to try out "funky monkey" or some other weird juice I thought would be good when I purchased it.
