I diy my juice and only do VG. The only pg in mine is in the flavorings. Some of mine are like that until they have steeped for quite a while. Since its all vg the flavor % are sometimes higher than say a 50/50 blend so you can taste them. It could very well be that it just needs extra time to smooth out or the flavoring is at a high enough level to be bothering you.

I'm guessing a combination. Cheap nic, DA and probably alcohol. I think cheap juices use alcohol as filler,or for throat hit, which is why some taste better and less harsh if let sit with the cap off. The alcohol evaporates off...

Unless stated by the vendor, creamy flavors are pretty much guaranteed to have DA...

What effects do alcohol have on the over all profile of the juice? Ive started browsing around the DIY forum and noticed a thread or two regarding adding it to VG juices to thin them out.

And how would a non DA flavoring compare to a DA containing flavor? I suspect you might be right, that the combo of cheap nic and DA is giving me that burn.

Alcohol is a thinning agent and sometimes used to carry the flavor vs PG. it also gives a throat hit with low nic e liquids. I've heard some people say the creamy custards diketone laced flavors are harsh, rather than smooth for some. AP has been used recently for creamy flavors to some success. Some dont like it as well, however...
