So Cal
hello everyone,
As a brief history been vaping about 5 months now. started with an ego t, moved on to cartos which i never liked as i could always taste the poly fill. tried a Vivi Nova and was thoroughly unimpressed. i then jumped into RBAs and currently use a Provari with a Gemini rba. i have been completely satisfied with the genesis style and enjoy the control i have over my setup. i am now looking for "ahem" a back up unit which could substitute my setup. although i love the genesis setup i find that it is not always practical especially when i am at work. in my search i have stumbled into the REO world. the nearly fanatical obsession has peaked my interest.
i am looking at the REO mini as i need a mod that will fit in my vest pocket. i would like to top it with a rba(in order to satisfy my control issues)such as the Hornet or preferably a Chalice. of paramount concern is flavor. i have become somewhat of a flavor snob nowadays. has anyone who uses a genesis RBA noticed a decrease in flavor?(i realize its SS vs Silca wick). any and all input is greatly appreciated. thanks for the help.

The REO mini will certainly be a great PV for taking out in a pocket. It's small size fits the hand perfect. The Hornet will fit the Mini without an adapter.

I have used the A7 and the Reomizer RBA and I am very happy with the flavor.

The battery in the Mini should last you about 4 hours. So you will need to take another to get through a 8 hour work day. I would take two extra just to make sure.

The Mini 2.0 has a larger battery and is just a little thicker. The Mini 2.1 is about to be released and it will allow other RBA's to fit since the drip well will be larger.

If you would consider the Grand then you would have double that battery life plus more juice in the 6ml bottle. The Grand is the size of a business card. I am not sure how good it would be in a vest pocket.

We love our REO's because they are a dependable and sturdy PV that stands up to a lot of abuse. Also the customer service is top notch.

A mini 2.1. The newest version to come out that Scott was referring to should do you well. I do believe they will be available very soon. The battery should last you about 3 mls of juice before needing to change. I carry the 2.0 (same as 2.1 but larger well in the 2.1 for RBA's) at work and typically it will get me thru an 8 hour day. Today I did have to rejoice and battery but not usually.

You would be crazy not to buy one. They are by far the most practical PV on the market.

+ 1 for azzaman. They will also cure the dirty feeling most people (especially us men) would have of having to perform mouth to tube shape anything in exchange for payment. In this case the payment is vapor - large, consistent quantities with a REO.

I don't know how people still do it, now that there are alternatives that work as well as a REO, but I am thankful that I don't have to use a phallic shaped mod.

You will love your REO and will more than likely relegate the other to voltage checking detail.

So Cal
thank you for the valuable information. i will indeed be ordering a REO very soon as they seem to make too much sense not to. i just need a little more help in determining which model will best fit my needs. here is a little more info.
i need a unit that will fit in my work vest pocket so size is a consideration.
i typically vape 5-6mls a day.
work is 8-10 hours, lunch time i change batteries and refill as needed.
i plan to use a RBA with the REO. i have a lifetime supply of RBA materials.
i vape high VG tobacco e liquids which tend to gunk up coils quickly. i mention this because resistance starts to climb rather quickly...mechanical or VV?
i really like the profile of the minis and i can and have wrapped very low resistance coils however i like the enhanced flavor of more wraps, obviously higher resistance accompanies that set up.
lastly some recommendations for atomizers for emergency replacements.
i appreciate any and all contributions and suggestions.

I might be more qualified to answer than some here because right in front of me is a provari - with the gemini genesis atty :D

Its a nice set-up .... and to be honest a genesis vape can not be beat for TH and flavor if you set them up right.
I honestly stand behind that statement ......

But ..... Genesis attys or hybrids are pretty much useless out and about for day to day vaping.

For that a REO is king. Right now I have my VV Woodvil with a chalice atomizer and its 90 % of a genesis vape ......
But its 1000 % percent more pocket/car/travel friendly ..... So its a win.

I will have the fore mentioned mini 2.1 on the way as soon as Rob has them ready .... And I have a second Chalice on the way for it as well.

It will be my out and about mod for sure ........ !!!!

You will love it :)

What would decide for me which one will be the "back-up" is how much you vape at home vs out and about.

For me I'm home most of the time so sadly my REO usage is below 50% the last few months :(

And ask anyone here I've got REOs in the blood stream .... I own 7 currently.

On a side note there are much better genny attys than that gemini IMHO but any genesis vape is a great one.

As far as size almost everyone agrees once you see a Grand in person its not nearly as big as your thinking it is.
Its exactly the same size as a standard business card.

Here is a Grand (left) and the original mini 14500 (right)
For your usage I would go with the grand and the 6ml / 18650 batt

I don't have much to add to the expert advice you've been given except I was on the fence about the "Grand" or "Mini 2.0" and I'm really glad I got the "Grand." Fully loaded with 6ml bottle, battery and with the "reomizer" on it I bring it to work, shopping, friend's houses, etc. every day in my shirt pocket with no problem.

So Cal
Well I am going to have to purchase 2(initially) as the wife wants one as well.
Here is a question for the ladies. In your real life experiences have you ever had any leaks while a REO was in your purse?(upside down, sideways, lay on its side, etc, etc).
Forgive my ignorance but is leakage ever an issue using 306attys?

Don't even have a REO yet and I can see it's a slippery slope.
Thanks for the help.

I carry my REOs in my purse all the time, but I generally buy purses that have a couple of outside pockets, one for phone, one for REO. The purse I have now has big pockets, I put the REO in rightside up but it always slips on it's side. I have had no leaks from any of my REOs. Your wife will love it!

+2 Only issue I have is DTs that don't fit tightly enough. Next time I clean my purse I'll probably find a few DTs. Knuckelheads are the worst about coming off of ERAs. (They fit more tightly on most other attys/cartos.)(I carry an extra, cheap-o delrin DT and carto, along with extra chap stick, in one zippered small pocket of over sized billfold.)
