Hello,

I'm from the UK, I have been smoking for 5 years (roll-ups for 3 of them). Yesterday, I finally decided to buy the disposable e-cig sold next to the tobacco in my local shop, and give it a go.

I am aware that this disposable e-cig isn't meant to be that great... but it was enough to convince me. I want to convert to vaping. I like smoking, and the only reason I've ever wanted to quit is the health aspect, so vaping seems ideal.

So, I've given myself till the end of this month to buy myself a refillable PV, and hopefully quit tobacco smoking altogether.

I'm a little lost in it all, so thought a forum would be a good place to start and learn about things. I'm terrible with introductions, sorry if I rambled.

Welcome to the both of you.

This e-cig world (we call it vaping not smoking) is HUGE and very confusing for new comers. It will take a few weeks to get used to the lingo and find out what you really like, but there IS something out there for everyone. I would recommend starting with a standard eGo-C upgrade kit with a clearomizer. I'll post up a link here soon, but it's easy and gives you a great vape.

Meanwhile, watch this video: TAKING THE NEXT VAPING STEP - YouTube

He explains a lot of introductory stuff for our world of vaping. Now for your link! Be back soon!

edit- Empiremods eGo Passthrough CE4 Starter Kit

Pretty good starter kit for an awesome price, and it comes with 3 different liquids from a good juice vendor. I'm sure there are plenty of other eGo starter kits out there, any someone else may have a different recommendation, but this is pretty much what you want for starting out.

If you have ANY questions about ANYTHING, please don't hesitate to ask. This community is incredible and we're all here to help eachother out!

GL bud!

Welcome to you both!! This IS a great place for info. First - I would say read and read some more!! The New Members stickies have some great stuff. I'm pretty new as well. :) When your head stops spinning from all the info. ( I'm hoping mine will at some point) you can get an idea of what you'd like to try. If you have a shop near you - I say go! You can give up the paper cigs! You can!! :toast:

Thanks for the responses :)

I've looked at some of the information threads, and it made it worse :p In part because its 3am in the morning, and in part a lot of the UK e-cig stores I've been on so far, haven't used the same language, but I think thats because I'm probably looking in the wrong places. I will look at the information again tomorrow.

I hope your head stops spinning soon too lol

Hi! Fellow insomniac invert, here. Totally off topic-- god, I'm jealous; I'd give anything in the entire world to live in the UK. A great UK-based site is libertyflights.com. They have pretty loverly prices and selection. The ego/CE4 set-up that cunningStunts suggests is a fine starting-point. I was a paper-roller from age 13, though, and it took a vamo (really any big-battery vv device) to finally get me off of cigarettes, altogether. Keep us posted, and we'll help with any bumps along the way. Best of luck to you! Get some sleep!

Welcome! As far as a starter kit, it depends on whether you want something that resembles an analog or whether you want some metal. I went with both, because I like having something reasonable looking to take out and about: Smokeless Image Volt for my analog look-a-like, and a cheap eGo-V vv 650mah battery with a passthrough for when when I'm home. Not an expensive setup, but plenty of good times.

I liked the Liberty Flights (thankyou for the link) site, and they sound to be reliable with good customer service). I decided to go with their ego vision clearomizer kit. I read 650mAh batteries have about enough charge for 8 hours? Does this sound about right?

A VV does sound interesting, but I can always get (and will have to at some point anyway) another battery, but most the starter kits I've been finding aren't really VV unless they are off-brand... and although cheaper, I would prefer to get something with a reputable name, as its probably better quality and more likely to last. Basically, I just want to get to grips with some basic equipment before trying more, because there's so muchinfo to learn, I'd never get round to buying a kit if I waited till I had learnt it all.

I havent ordered it yet, as I'm waiting for a response from them to see if they are still selling bottles of 5ml liquid (so I can try different favours), but I'm already excited.

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully in the coming weeks I will vaping, and contributing more to the forum, because this stuff is all quite facisnating, and I have so much to learn :)

In recent months, I would say I was a moderate to light smoker (ranging between 0-20 roll ups a day, on average, just under 10), as I'vebeen trying to cut back, with the intention of quitting. But this was all out of health concerns, so I assume I'm likely to vape a lot more than I have been smoking lately.

That being said, I work in a customer facing role, and so chain vaping won't be happening at work, mostly just during my break, and the occassional stealth vape in the kitchen. So thats why I was hoping a battery would last a fairly long time (well, my 2 batteries together at least), at work. I also reckon I might get a 900mAh pass-through bat, which is also detachable, as I spend a lot of time at home on my laptop. So hopefully that battery might be more practical for my longer shifts, with a 650mAh back up.

But yeah, I've got my eGo now. I quite like it, but its not quite hitting the spot, and I still want an analog (I have until the end of the month to quit and make the transition). I assume I just need to try different flavours, and maybe nicotine strengths, to find what does it for me.
