To Tank or Not to Tank. That is the question.

Hello folks! this is my first post here
I smoked 2 PAD for 20 years, now ibe been 100% analog free for over a month thanks to e-cigs.

I currently use the V2 cigs model, and it has worked fine for me so far, i havent seen any of the "horror stories" ibe read about them. However, since im a VERY heavy ex-smoker (now heavy vaper), im running out of battery all the time, plus going thru 3 cartos a day is getting expensive.
So i decided to get a Joye eGo (the 1000mAh version). Bigger battery, refillable, etc.
However, im not clear about a few things, and im hoping you veterans can help me out clear my doubts...

¿Should i get the tank or regular version?
From what ibe read about the tank, it sounds great! just fill the cart with liquid and youre good to go! but somehow it sounds too good to be truth.
¿are there any downsides of the tank compared to the regular version of the eGo?
also, ¿Do the tank carts (not the atties, the carts) need replacing at some point? they appear to be just a "holder" to the juice with no parts to wear out, ¿how often do you owners replace your tank carts?

About the atomizers... really, how long do they last? i know it depends on usage, liquid used, etc. but is there a "rule of tumb" of what is the minimum they last to a 2-3ml a day user?

About the non tank version... ¿do the non-tank cartigides need any kind of maintenance? eg changing filler etx?

Wish that I could help you but I'm not too familiar w/ tank version eGo batteries. With most mods you can pair w/ a carto and tank set up so that you don't have to refill your carto or constantly drip on an atty. There are a number of great tanks out there to choose from and really do eliminate a lot of hassle.

I can say "Welcome to the ECF." I'm sure someone will come along that is familiar w/ using the tank with an ego.

I'll answer the second part, since I have no clue about atty-tanks.

The "non-tank" version is more often than not: cartomizers. Sure, you can use the atomizer-cartridge, but it's a pain. Those cartridges hold little juice, they're messy, etc. I doubt anyone here would say they're a step up from cartomizers.

Cartomizers are exactly what you have on your V2. And I can say the cartos that come with V2 are not half bad, except for the flavor, imho. So if you like those, you already know you like cartomizers.

The ones you already have can be refilled, as I'm sure you know. It's best to keep them moist as much as possible by topping them off now and then as you vape. That's all the maintenance you have to do. Some people clean them - it works, and you can easily find methods commonly used. The time you get out of a cartomizer varies, but it's safe to say 7-10 days.

Cartos can also be used in their kind of tanks - just tubes really that keep liquid around cartos that are punched, so they never go dry. In a tank, you can keep using a carto for longer.

More importantly, if you go for an eGo-style (and here, if care, I'd recommend you get a higher capacity battery, regulated eG-o-style such as KGO or E-Power), you can easily use cartomizer, dripping atomizers and atty-tank setup as you please.

(BTW: in my experience the pre-filled cartos that come with V2 are underfilled, and that's why they burn up far quicker than they should); the cartos themselves are very good.

well, I just got the ego-c in friday and have used the tank all weekend. it is great. have something like the v2 and let me tell you this is much better. you may go through 2 tanks a day, but only one battery. as you get more into it, maybe check out a lava tube with a tank carto. fill with juice and go all day. you should really like the ego though. recommend the ego-c as you can replace attys for a lot less.

I found the Ego-T to be really inconsistent. The hit would sometimes be up to par (for the most part, tank style atomizers mute flavor. As far as I experienced anyways) or sometimes I would get really dry hits. Longevity is also a concern. The longest I've had one to last was a week and I only vaped 2 mL a day. I did the cleaning and drying thing as well but it didn't help much. I found that the Ego-T was money thrown away and found cartomizers to be far better in terms of quality. For me, I liked the Boge Cartomizers (low resistance if you're using an ego battery) for the cooler vape. If you're a fan of a warmer vape, a Resurrector from Crystal Clear Vaping might be your cup of tea. Overall, I would recommend experimenting with several cartomizers rather than spending money on an Ego-T or variant of.

CCV has DCT tanks which many are not a fan of, but I find work nicely with punched Resurrectors. And I hate that I'm promoting a carto so much, but in my humble opinion, the Resurrectors have been giving me better flavor than the Boge 2.0's.

I also have an eGo-T and my motivation for getting one was almost identical to yours, I started with v2 as well. I 2nd the sentiment that their cartos are actually pretty decent but just underfilled. Anyhow, I was not that impressed with the tank system and actually keep it on the shelf as backup. Its a good idea, it just struggled with consistent performance. I still use the battery as my daily but instead use other carto solutions. I mostly use CE2 clearos but have begun to move onto DCT tanks and just actually ordered some single coil cartos for it because I didnt like how quickly the dual coils drained the batteries, although I do like how they perform.

I use the eGo-T with the atty/tank set up and it works quite well for me. You fill the little tank with fluid and push it into the atty and you are done.

The draw was inconsistant though so i solved it by opening the little hole in the tank with a small jewelry file to make it about half again as large as it started and that feeds the liquid much better and I haven't had a dry hit since. It doesnt leak in the atty anymore than it normally would but it will have a tendency to leak a bit stored loose (so keep those rubber caps on and you'll be fine)

As to the wear and tear... none really. I have 6 of them that I carry around and they still work the exact same as they did 27 days ago. I guess eventually the little silicone stopper might become too soft to do any good, but thats probably a long time off and the little tanks are really cheap.

As to the attys... i have no idea. I vap about 1 or 1-1/2 of the tanks a day and all of mine are still working like champs. But i blow them out after every 3rd tank i put in and reprime them to keep the build up out.

There is an issue i failed to mention, i dont live in the US, and i dont have access (at least not easy access) to many mods, or products like you guys do. In fact, the only e-cig products i do have easy access to, is the V2 cigs products (wich is what i have now), a few e-juice brands, and the standard (more common) joyetech brand stuff. (e.g. i cant get a labatube, a dual coil tank, X brand cartomizers, etc).
Im shure there are some great tanks, cartomizers, etc from other brands, but the sad true is i will not have regular/easy access to them here.

Thats why my choice has been narrowed down to the eGo, or the eGo Tank, both with stock accesories (atties carts, etc).
with this in mind...

if you are a heavy vaper, and can only choose an eGo, or eGoT and stock (joyetech) accesories only, ¿wich one would you get?

As for the V2cigs, i too agree they are fine, like i said i do like them, there just not "practical" for the ammount of vaping i do. Batteries last too little (and wear out too soon under heavy use), prefilled cartos last too little and are too expensive, and even if i were to refill them, i would still have the small battery issue.

Im gonna go with the eGo-C. Its available here, (as well as the atti heads, etc), and it seems it will be cheaper on the long run, plus i havent read any "bad" things about them.

Hope you like it. I have had an ego-c for 2 weeks as my first PV and I think it personally works great. I did get some silicone caps for the tanks, though. Used the hard plastic caps on the tanks and they were a real pain to pop off, and were taking a beating just popping off, so I knew they wouldn't last long.
