Okay...I am in NO way a conioseur of tobacco. I don't really get the different "flavors" of different tobaccos....example Virginia vs burley vs well...everything else. I am guessing that different blends are used in different analogs? If that is the case, how can I discern which flavor I would be looking for to come even remotely close to the analog? If only my hubby had been a serious pipe smoker, then maybe I could get the gist of it all. Any advice would be much appreciated or even a site that would explain it.

:oops::oops:

Actually, I myself am not that particular as I have gone as far as cigars (not the little flavored ones like grape and strawberry). I am looking actually to diy some juice for my mom who is having a hard time leaving her analogs...mostly b/c of the flavor. She is a menthol smoker and will do either virginia slims ultra lights or benson and hedges ultra lights (as they are made by the same people they taste VERY much alike). I already have menthol crystals on the way to make the "non sweet" menthol, but I think it will need a little tobacco flavor too.

Hi keelalagir55, I am not a menthol vaper but I will provide some info here to bump this up again for you. Good luck. From what I have read, you can try adding some small crystals to any bottle of flavor you already have. If it is too weak, add more until she is satisfied. I would start off really light on the crystals, though, because a little goes a long way. Also, a good company that provides what I consider the closest thing to a "smoke" flavored juice is Johnson Creek, particularly their Red Oak line (Tennessee Cured, JC Original) to which you can add some crystals. While this will not be exactly the same taste as her analogs, it might come as close as it can.

May I also ask what equipment she is using? This can also play a key role in her level of satisfaction.

Yea??? About that M&M....currently she has one of my volcano's and one of my Magmas....I'm looking into the 400 series to get for her as I was told they are light in weight. Another of her complaints is not being able to hold it easily in her mouth. I am about to try the 510 for myself.

As for the tobacco....I have some premixed tobacco flav that has a sweet nutty flav to it, and I don't think she would like that. I looked at Johnson Creek a while back and got way overwhelmed with the tobacco flavs.....is the Tenn Cured sweet at all? That is something I think is her biggest issue with the menthol that I have bought for her.

DonG...I was wondering how the virginia type would do....not sure if that is why the company went to calling one of their analogs Virginia Slims or not......I saw one of those at OSDIY by Flav Art???

I don't know about pipes.

I do know 555 is a vanilla almond tobacco (sometimes seems like peanuts) and RY4 (and other RYs) are vanilla caramel tobaccos (some sweet, some not).

FreedomSmokeUSA has a bunch of tobaccos and there is one called Grandpa's Porch or something like that - I think in the comments someone says that reminds them of pipe tobacco.

Here is a PDF file link to a chart of some of the tobacco flavor juices like those at FreedomSmokeUSA
Flavoring names on the right (often used as the ejuice name) and on the left are some too-close color codings of the flavors found in each

You could also go to the E-Liquid discussion section of the forum or E-Liquid Reviews section and use Search Forum to search for pipe.

Yes, JC might not be good for her b/c they are a little on the sweet side (and I add additional sweetner b/c I love anything sugary)... I have tried some of the virginia cured flavors and they are not sweet at all, blech! Therefore, she may like them. FreedomSmokeUSA has a very good reputation and do not put any sweetners in their juices unless you ask for them, they also have a very wide variety of tobacco flavors.

Equipment is probably okay. I found a little trick that I use when I want to hang one of my ecigs outta my mouth. I use the hard plastic mouthpieces that are not round (they have deep grooves and a lip which I can put between my lips or teeth). I think they are referred to as whistle tips, but they have to be hard plastic, not soft rubber (the hard plastic are stiff enough to stay put but the rubber ones slip out and the ecig falls down...). My hubby has even commented when I was able to hang my XL eGo outta my mouth. Go figure. To give you an idea of what they look like, here is where I have ordered mine from: Modern Vapor. It is in the upper-right of the product picture. This particular one will not work on the Volcano products because their attys are at a different height, but it gives you an idea of what shape to look for. I don't see any whistle tips available from Volcano, but perhaps one of their curved drip tips could serve the same purpose. Because the Magma is compatible with a 510, you could get some 510 attys and whistle-tip carts and be good to go, but not sure from where, maybe someone else has a suggestion on that.

Thanks M&M...wonder if there are ones that will fit the 400's......I am stuck between the 401 or 403 for her....if she doesn't like them, I figure my hubby will use them (he's a REAL lightweight lol).

I agree DonG, but none would go to waste...I figure I can always spice it up enough for me to vape if my mom doesn't like it:)

Dormouse...thank you for that link....it will REALLY come in handy if my brother gets into vaping....he's an occasional cigar smoker, but of ALL types....I have been around him with one that smelled just like the pipe my uncle used to smoke...mmmmm so yummy!

Great help guys. I REALLY appreciate it....I think I will go with 2 small batches...one with virginia and one with JC Tenn Cured.
Either way....I can add a little vanilla and hazelnut for myself....or maybe straight up....no menthol no anything:)

Tried the Johnson Creek flavors and thought they sucked. Did not taste like tobacco and all flavors tasted almost the same. They put citric acid in their juice, and I think it is nasty! Got some juice from thevaporpro.com and really liked the 555 or his winstonian flavors. Thought they were close to tobacco flavor. The closest I have come thus far is the tobacco flavor from americaneliquidstore.com. But, it was more like a pipe tobacco flavor.

I make two daily ejuices, one is Hilton and the other is Virginia made from concentrate. I can't really compare them to any cigarette that I have smoked but they are a mild tobacco flavor. Of course that also depends on how strong a % you use. I use 8% for an 18mg nic level.
