I'm just getting started with vaping, haven't even bought a unit yet, just a few disposables. I don't care for the flavors, I want tobacco flavor only. We all know American cigs taste nothing like Canadian cigs and considering like most products ecigs are targeted at Americans more then us do people as a general rule find the tobacco flavors lean towards an American flavor or Canadian flavor? If that is the case can you recomend some Canadian tasting brands?

Hey thuktun, welcome to boards! I've been vaping for a few days over a year. I chased that flavor that your looking for for quite sometime. Never really found it. That's not to say that you shouldn't try them out. I now DIY my own juices and that American taste is prevalent in the tobacco flavors, in particular M-Type .... stay away from this if you don't like the yankee smokes.

Drier tobacco flavours like Burley give a better Canadian 'flavor' but taste is incredible subjective. For every member on these boards, all vaping the exact same juice you would get a different description from each of them. I would suggest that you try a few from the vendors that sell the likes of Export Eh, and Du Mah Ray, etc. You'll find something YOU like.

Everyone, just getting into vaping, chases that Canadian flavour. Taste is really subjective and changes faster then you think.
Think back to the last time you bummed a cig from someone and it was not your brand. First few puffs, it tasted weird. By the time you got to the end, the taste was probably not so bad. Now think back to the last time you changed brands or had to buy another brand because the store did not have yours. In a matter of a pack or two, the difference in taste is far less noticeable and very soon, becomes the norm.
I started with RY4 because I heard it was fairly mild compared to the American tobacco flavours. It is a bit sweet but I found that I rather like it. Not as... earthy? or woodsy tasting as I have found the American flavours to be.
You just have to try a bunch of sample sizes until you find something you like.
Don't discount the fruit or drink flavours. Some of those are very good.
When it comes right down to it, do you really think the taste of burning tobacco is good or is your brain associating the taste with the pleasure the act gives you?

I've tried a few of those Vapur (VaPUR) disposables you can get in corner stores and I find the Classique flavor does taste quite a bit like an unlit Canadian cigarette. It tastes like an unlit cigarette smells but a bit sweeter and I like it. If I could get carts or juice that tasted like that I would buy them. I tried their flavored ones and it just didn't appeal to me. I find with the Classique even though it doesn't have nicotine it keeps me from wanting a real cigarette whereas when I had the flavored ones I'd want a cigarette still. But disposables are too expensive so I'm researching kits to decide what I should go with.

I mentioned in another thread I was thinking of going with SmokeStik and got chewed out lol, apparently they are too expensive but I don't see it. Any decent kit that was recommended to me is within $10 of the $70 I can get a premium SS starter kit for in a local store. The biggee with me is the fact I can get it and the carts in a local store. That and I don't want some big bulky thing that looks like a .... or a flashlight. I can live with short battery life, that's what spares are for. :)

Now if only Health Canada would allow nicotine so I don't have to get the spray to go with my ecigs....

Not sure when one can receive PMs, (I think it's at 10 or 15 posts), but when you can, throw a post in the Canadian e-liquid supplier thread up in the stickies, and with the list you receive, you won't have to buy any spray.

As for kits, I started with an eGo (check canvape.com for the best prices on hardware) - great battery life, nice small form-factor (about the size of a fountain pen all assembled), and it really shines coupled with low-resistance cartomizers. If I didn't have a bad case of Vape Aquisition Disorder, I'd've probably stuck with that setup exclusively. Just a couple of my pennies tossed in; it's all grist for the mill, so take it how you like.

I, for one, would like to welcome you to our little corner of the ECF community, and hope your stay is a pleasant one. I also wish you luck in your quest to quit smoking.

Cheers!

Mike

There is a bit of an elitist attitude when it comes to hardware on this forum. Most of it is well intentioned. Just wanting to see that you get the best value for the buck.
Some on this forum look at vaping as a hobby and some look at it as a way to get rid of cigs.
My feeling is, get what works and is comfortable. As long as it keeps me off smoking, I'd suck on a pointed stick with Timbits stuck on the end (Actually, that does not sound half bad...)
Get what you want and if some time in the future, you find the experience lacking, you can always move to more advanced hardware.
Keep in mind how much cigs cost you per month. If you spend the same in vaping, you are still ahead because you are not smoking.

All I can say is search the forum. Just a great bunch of knowledge here, I'm sure you'll find what you need. I started with the eGo-t, just loved it at the start, I have since moved on to bigger and better units.

All the best...

I second this. As I have mentioned before, the best quote I've heard about vaping came from PBusardo, which says something like "Whatever keeps you off the real deal is the best hardware/juice out there." All I can tell you is what worked for me.

I look at replacing smoking with vaping as a process, rather than an event, myself. If you get the local store's e-cig and it works, then look no further, unless you really want to try something new.

One kit I would recommend if you're just getting started is the REDDS Kit from Happy Vaper. This is your basic KR808 Clone with a few nice additions. The Charging case is the size of a pack of cigarettes, carries 3 carts you can REFILL, a fully assembled unit, and one battery in the charger. I've been using this exclusively over the past couple of weeks and it really is an awesome little unit and the PCC usually lasts me a full day out and about. The pricetag is a little higher than some other KR808 kits out there, but the extra money is worth it for that PCC.

The problem with SmokStik and VaPUR and a few of the other "corner store" kits out there is the cartridge costs. The performance is OK if you get the right set-up, but as far as bang for the buck, they fall seriously short. and the carts you get have no nicotine.

As for liquid, I'm an avid tobacco fan. I've tried all the fruity / dessert juices out there, and they're nice once in a while for a change, but they just don't do it for me long-term. I've been vaping for a year and a half and I still haven't found a juice that tastes EXACTLY like a burning cigarette, but a number that come close enough to keep the cravings at bay. I also don't like the sickening sweet taste you get from the american tobaccos and prefer the hay/nutty blends that I find match canadian cigarettes more closely. Send me a PM once you're able and I'll fire over a few recommendations on these juices.

If you're looking for tobacco flavour, Flavour Crafters just came out with a few new Canadian Tobacco flavours. There are three, I believe, Mac Maurier, Export, and Mild Canadian. I did have the opportunity to try the Mac Maurier recently and not being a regular tobacco flavour vaporer myself, I found it to be the closest juice flavour I've tried that resembles a Canadian tobacco cigarette.

I suppose if I'm looking for the flavor that satisfies me I'll have to go online to purchase but I'd really rather not. I find Canada Post to be awful for sending anything to Newfoundland, it took 3 weeks for a small package with a straight razor in it and some shaving soap to get here from Ontario. I'm still going all over town looking to see what local options there are. Convenience in the purchase is big for me, I'd hate to run out and then go back to analogs once I get off them. As for ordering nicotine juice, isn't that illegal? Am I missing something?

Health Canada issued an advisory back in 2009. This does not make it illegal. That said, brick and mortar stores that offer an assortment of quality products are hard to come by. Your best bet is to order online. Most of us have learned to guage our usage pretty well in order to figure out when to reorder supplies ~ the rule of thumb is: always have backups (and backup for your backups :p).

If you want to stay local, why not? Easy access & instant gratification. :)
As mentioned, it doesn't matter what we use (stick with timbit LOL...good one).

Back to the original question....
Some suppliers have the tobacco juices by different names, not all are alike. The moral to the story is, there can be no recommendation to a true tobacco flavour. The only thing you can do is experiment & sample until you find "the one". Juices can be similar in nature, but tobacco liquid is not universal. Maybe this can be debated, but from what I've read & sampled, I haven't come close to the 'old experience'.

Keep reading ECF and ask all the questions you want. :) If you do consider online shopping in the future, you will get a lot of good leads & advice from the folks here. Good luck on your journey......I hope you find something soon to fill the void when you quit smoking. :vapor:

I just wanted to add Thuktun, that I'm two days away from a full year of no analogs (even though my banner says that that anniversary should have past) but in the beginning I cheated here and there.

The last smoke I had on June 9th ... tasted down right awful!!! Others will debate this but your vaping no nic right now and that has got to be tough. I smoked 35 + years with no breaks! If you really want to kick those analogs in the .... [pun] your going to need to have a strategy that will give you the best chance of success. You can worry about the nic levels/reduction after you've rid yourself of the analogs.

Ordering online, IMHO, is just a necessary evil in that strategy. The 'corner store' stuff is too expensive and poor quality.

Pretty soon you'll become a mailperson stalker just like the rest of us :)

Mindfield may have just discovered what you're looking for.........................

Heh, I was about to suggest Vapemate Tobacco. It's got more of that real cigarette taste. It's not exact, but it's a lot closer to a real cigarette than the fresh tobacco. It may be an acquired taste for some perhaps, but I think at the very least it may be an excellent stepping stone for new vapers who want something more authentic, even if it may not taste like their preferred brand.
