I can't really pin down the flavor, it's kind of metallic, and sometimes it can get pretty harsh. It comes on and off, but regardless it tastes awful. At first I thought maybe it was the cotton, because it tastes a bit like chems, but it hasn't gone away! From what I've read, I thought maybe it is because I never cleaned it, at all. So my question is, has anyone else had this problem? How'd you fix it? Thanks in advance! :)

Everyone should always remember to clean and rda you get. They are stainless steel and have oils on them from the machining process. It is total disgust when vaping machining oils and could really make some people think differently about RDA. Also you don't have to trash the coil that you built. You can take it out, clean the post and deck and replace the old coil back into the rda.

I just picked mine up yesterday and had the same thought when I built it at work! I tried my first single strand dual parallel build and it came out perfect so taking it out made for a sad day haha. Cleaning it fixed the funky taste though.
Unfortunately my battery is dead so I can't see if it worked or not... Crossing my fingers

Veryrare, when you say dead you don't mean completely dead right. Taking a battery below 2.7 can be a little unsafe, the chemistry becomes unstable.

3.5 is a good place to start thinking about pulling the battery and recharging it. If you don't have one there are a lot of vendors that have inline meters for seeing where your battery is during vaping.

You can find them cheaper but this is what you are looking for:

These are a real good read, I started with these myself and the author is real nice about answering question if you shot him a PM.

Be careful my friend, it would be a damn shame for you to get hurt enjoying a good vape.

And if you knew this all already, sorry for being preachy.

Always disassemble RDAs and soak in isopropyl alcohol to remove machining oil before building..
nothing worse than putting time into a build that tastes like monkey droppings

I won't ask how you know about the taste of monkey droppings :)

I do the same but my RDA's prefer Everclear. I wash then real good in super hot water, dump the water off and while they are still hot give them a drink of Everclear. I've also learned that those screw holes and screws can hold more machine oil then you think. Those come out all the way and each opening see's a tooth brush.

Hot legs can give a nasty metalic taste that comes and goes.. If it was just machine oil I'd expect the flavor to be there and not go away..

When you rebuild your coil make sure you tighten down the screws nicely and after you wick it and juice up the wick fire it with the cap off before hitting it a couple times.. Look for any red spots. If you have any there's something wrong and it will taste horrible.. Normally caused by inefficient wicking or long legs coming from the coil that haven't been properly tightened down.
