How goes. I just wanted to show something i did today. I have a few hobbies. I love large scale (1/5 scale) 2 stroke gas powered vehicles. They are very detailed with disc brakes and such. I enjoy painting them but am a tape and mask a pattern type guy. I do detail real cars and trucks for a living. polishing and such. I painted an old fibreglass vw beetle shell today. I recently bought this back and had to strip 4 other owner's paint jobs off before I could start... it's taken a few days of prep to get it cleaned up. it's not perfect by any means, as I am racing it on a pavement track, and it will get hit... but at 40-50 mph, you won't see the flaws...
A friend stopped by while I was tinkering, and asked if I could strip the decals off his wife's electric scooter and paint flames on it. tbh I am getting tired of flames. I've learned how to mask them fast and how to spray, but I've done enough. I ripped the decals (they were clear coated over at factory) so I had to sand the hell out of it... that;s what I have done my first 2 days of vaping is sand and prep.
today, I went analog free so wanted to keep busy. I talked to my buddy and said, can I try something. I just started airbrushing and have never tried to do something free hand. I want to put lightning on this scooter. I had repainted the black.... I'll have to take pics again in daylight as the end of the garage is dark... I had just sprayed the 4th coat of clear here and it needs a wetsand. etc. I'll have these both finished tomorrow.
first the rc body. I bought this from a guy in the netherlands that makes them. awesome detail and tough as nails. it was an offroad buggy I have modified onto a 4wd on road. and yes it once looked like herbie too. it has 4 wheel disc brakes and other goodies.. I am sanding this after I make the post. I have some really sweet decals that I think were done on a home computer. the lettering comes off. so I am going to apply them and put somelight coats of clear on. build it up and sand again. they will be in the clear coat.
I saw this car and wanted something similar, except I used a krome paint and pearl blue instead of red
