Besides, where this question has been asked before, the replies all refer to 510 devices and I have mostly 808.

So my question is this......What is the best set up to test new juice flavors?

I have a couple atty's but no matter how much I clean them they still taste like this horrible blueberry/perfume that I tested about a month and a half ago. That, and a little like rust. I'm guessing that would be from trying to rinse them with water over and over lol

I have some unused SI nanos, but I'm afraid to use these to test just to have leftover/bleedthru flavor that messes with the next flavor I wanna try.

I don't want to use carto's for this cuz it just takes too much juice to fill the filler and that's just wasteful.

Not the biggest deal in the world. I have three fav flavs that keep me very happy. But I do like to try new things every once in a while. :p

Have you tried removing the filling from a new blank stainless steel carto. It seems it would be easier to clean by boiling for about 15 minutes then letting it dry before sampling a different flavor. I haven't tried this yet but this is what I plan on using when my new package of blanks come in. Waiting on vape mail delivery today... hopefully.

Thanks so much for the replies!!

I've tried the deconstructed carto in the past. Worked ok. But I found the flavor totally different once in a carto or clearo.

I was also hoping there was some way to taste more than one flavor a day. lol Waiting overnight to soak and or dry the atty is maddening for me!!! lol

Oh well. Thanks again all!! :)

I use a hh357 atomizer, which i thought was wayyyy too expensive for an atomizer until i tried it...now its the only atty i drip into and i use it to test flavors (i have one juice which i always vape but for whatever reason im always fiddling around trying different juices and then still filling up tanks with the same old favorite!) anyway, to clean it out, i just drop some alcohol into there (want2vape sells an 'atty refresher' which is basically just alcohol i think), let it sit for 2 seconds, blow it out into a napkin (blowing from the threaded end, not the drip tip end) and then i drip the new flavor on there and just dont inhale my first few drags as the remaining alcohol burns off (not that its bad or anything as far as i know, i just don't) and voila atty refreshed and ready for a new flavor with little to no "flavor creep"

HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid 510 Atomizer - Avid Vaper

you could do this with any atomizer if you didnt want to drop the twenty bucks on the hh357, but i must say i find it was a good purchase, and i always feel like im getting the most out of a juice so i really know how i feel about it before i put 5 bucks of it into a tank or something!

others might tell you to just carefully dry burn the atomizer but i don't do that, just a personal preference, i worry about hurting the coils

also, i find some juices are just very persistent and need a few washes with the alcohol -- or in the worst case an overnight soak :( -- but most get cleaned out with a nice quick flush

here is the link to the atty refresher and i see that vapenstein has a recommended method there too

You could get a rebuildable clearomizer and clean it vigorously and/or replace the heads between flavor changes. There's one made with 808 threading, though I've never used it myself. You can PM me if you want to know where to find it.

I think I've promoted enough competing products in this forum already. Don't want to push my luck. ;)

Ok. I'm confused. Is something called a 510 atty going to work on an X2? I've been going along thinking that all SI products are 808 and 510 stuff doesn't fit. ?????????

And when you say alcohol, do you mean rubbing alcohol like I would clean a boo boo with or drinking alcohol like I would heal an inner boo boo with??? hehehehe (serious question, just asking in a silly way)

I said that once... now I have 4... Hated them at first... now I love them. I have done a 360 about a couple of things since I've started vaping. Who knows what I'll try next. Let's just say... I'm still in research mode. ;)

A 510 won't work on a 808. YoU will need to get a 510 to 808 battery adapter.

I would use vodka or moonshine:) or everclear. The thought of vaping rubbing alcohol is scary to me.

lol Yeah.......I'm LAZY....remember? lol J/K I just need to find ONE supplier that sells both the atty and the adapter. Bothers me to spend the same on shipping as the item as it is. REALLY don't wanna do it twice.

Ahhhhhhh My favorite!!! I have some vodka around here somewhere. I guess I should get it out of the freezer and bring it up to room temp before using it as an atty bath tho huh?

Heehee. I dont sweat the shipping anymore. For a dollar adapter it is hard to shell out 3 buckc shipping. Although driving somewhere for an adapter would be a ton more.

Not sure it matters if it cold or warm. Warm would prolly be better, but drinking it cold is much nicer:)

For the most part, no 2 devices will give the same flavor (atty, carto, converted carto, clearo, bottom coil) some will mute a little, some a lot, others let it all through. The most you could hope for is to see if the taste it's self is something you will probably like.

As for the waiting, you really don't have to wait much unless the tried flavor is "really" strong, then it might help after rinsing to vape some unflavored juice through it to clear it out. Same for after any cleaning to flush out any water, which is very minimal in a converted carto. Doesn't always work, but most of the time it should.
YMMV
:)

If you have some plain PG around, you might try doing a 50/50 mix with the vodka. I'm pretty sure atty refresher has both PG and alcohol in it (and probably some other stuff that they won't reveal). I never had much luck with straight up vodka myself. You could probably just do a quick clean, but overnight soak would be best.
