Throat hit comes from nicotine. A high PG mix tends to let more of it through. A high VG tends to mask it more. The higher the nicotine level in the juice and the higher the PG content, the more throat hit you can expect with your setup.

Agreed, its 90% of the time the juice itself and the mix that was used to make it. Higher pg is going to be more throat hit, even at low nic levels.

Sometimes, its the delivery system... I know I certainly detect more throat hit from top coil set ups, as well as sometimes if you're dialed up too high in volts/ watts you get more throat hit as well... you mentioned an ego VV... make sure you're not going too high in the voltage. Vaping at a lower voltage might ease it a bit too.

What nicotine level are you vaping at? Also, where is the juice from, and what juice?

"Throat hit" is simply irritation in your throat. This can be caused by all kinds of things. Nicotine is usually the culprit but not always. Many other things can cause throat hit. PGA, pepper oil, and all kinds of other things can affect throat hit. PG is considered to have more throat hit than VG, you could also be allergic to PG which could definitely mess with your throat. Temperature of the vapor could also affect it too, try turning down the voltage on your battery. Refer to something like this which you may have found already. :p

I'm using an eGo VV with a G50 bottom coil clearomizer and I think I've been getting too much throat hit from this set up. I used a Stardust clearomizer also and I'm getting the same effect. What might I be doing wrong or what should I try to do to lessen this? I just want a good smooth vape. It might even be my juice?

If you're willing to buy another bottle of juice. Try the same flavor at a lower nic level. Definitely a good place to start.
I'm vaping at 18mg. as a pack a day smoker, this is what the store assistants suggested. And the juice is in store made. Do you think that might be the issue?

I vape stuff from 12-18mg, depending on the flavor.

Give them a call and ask what the PG/VG ratio in that juice is. If they're good folks, they should tell you. If it's high PG, (say, 60-40 or 70-30), then see if you can get some made with a higher VG content.

And also check out that link above. How you draw and inhale can make all the difference in the world when it comes to flavor, enjoyment and nicotine delivery.

As a minor nit, I disagree that PG "causes" throat hit. In 99% of our liquids, it's the nic in the juice that packs the wallop. PG is a thinner, less sweet liquid and lets more of it be felt. VG is a thicker, sweeter liquid and tends to mask it more. I really like high VG juices with high nic content and the right draw on my device.

I noticed you're in Columbia... Me too... Which means you probably went to Vapingzone? They're some really good folks in there. If you're suspecting PG is your culprit, they'll mix it for you to whatever PG/ VG mix you want. They do mix all their juices there. Also, if you're a new vaper... It could just be "getting used to it". I thought I had a bit of a PG allergy when I first started but after a few weeks the irritation went away. I found mint or "menthol" flavors gave me too much of a throat hit. I am a former menthol smoker but I found lighter flavors worked better for me. If you get a chance try Vapingzone's Nectarine.... It's light & a lil sweet....but mild enough it's been my all day vape for a few months.
