Took my wick out? Is this okay?

I was cleaning my Kanger Protank mini and couldn't get the wick back in, so I put in some cotton...I twisted one end slightly just to put it in and then fluffed it out and trimmed it. It's soaking up juice right now.

I hit the cool a little with the tweezers though. O_O One end looks a little further spaced out than the others. Is this okay?!

Is it alright that the coil was hit though? Not trying to have any issues. Parents might be a little off-put if I have a hand missing in the am LOL.

As long as the coil isn't shorting out on the sides .

If you have an apv/mod that checks the ohms of that coil and it reads 1.x to 2.x ohms it should be ok.

Hello and welcome, I twirl up my cotton into a rod and insert into the coil and trim off both sides about 1 mm out the sides. Then fluff a little and put grommet on. I would check you tube for micro coil builds. They work great in pt rebuilds. I like 1.8 ohm 30 guage around 1/16 bit 7/8 wraps. Works great and never a problem.

As of right now, I'm buying a new one (don't have the money for everything I would need to rebuild.), giving my tank a nice little soak, and buying a new wick tomorrow...I will be trying cotton again though.

Also noticed that the bottom coil seemed to be kind of squished...not sure if I did it or if it was before. It didn't seem as if both coils were heating up when dry burning...and the top one was kind of heating unevenly when I dry burnt it.

I haven't tried rebuilding dual coils yet. From what I read, if you're not using a variable voltage battery you aren't getting the full effect of the dual coils. When I started rebuilding my Protank 3 I just went with a single coil. You do have to play around with the cotton a little to get it right. Try to stuff too much in there and it will pop at you. Not enough and you know what happens already, leaking. The flavor is so much better though.

Yeah, I started to put in an extra roll of cotton above the coil like the flavor wicks in some tanks. I started doing that when I realized I was trying to stuff too much cotton through the coil to fill in the extra space. That might not be necessary but I haven't had any leaking since.

As far as losing a hand, unless you're being foolish with batteries in a mech mod I wouldn't worry about it. The itastes have short circuit protection so the worst that will happen is nothing (it won't fire) until you fix the coil.

That's a relief!

i swear if i tried using that much cotton, i would of smoked it!

every time i see a picture of a kanger head wicked with cotton - its packed... how the hell do you do it and not smoke cotton?

Once you pull the cotton apart and thin it out (notice the untwisted end) its not really that much. I've been using the same cotton ball for 3 months now and its only about half gone if that.. The juice keeps it from burning. Trust me, you DONT wanna dry hit it or dry burn it. You'll kill it in an instant..
