I spent a whole weekend on research e-cigs, and I could've spent a week but I was ready to order.
At first I thought the 901 would be my choice, but I was having better luck finding the parts for the 510 and I liked the reviews. I found the PCC charging box and a USB passthrough and that cinched it for me.

Now it's just the waiting game on 2 orders. I got one order from China for most of my stuff. I hope it doesn't get seized or something due to ignorance. They didn't have the USB passthrough so I placed a separate order from the next state over. I thought that it would arrive sooner so I figured I'd add an atomizer and some juice so I could start right away. I guess this started to add up.
When I say I took the plunge to ecigs, I took it bigger than expected. I thought I'd spend $80-$100 to get started, and I ended up spending over $220 instead. I sure hope I like it :D So much for saving money, but that's okay. The calculator said I'd break even in about 60 days Vs smokes, and I know how much better I'll feel then when I'm off the analogs.

I think I'm off to a good start though. 25 filled carts, 4 batteries, 7 attys, USB passthrough, 2 chargers and 80Ml of various juice is on its way.

After some more videos and reviews, I guess I could've just taken the advice and got a starter kit to decide first, because I'm still curious about the 901. I imagine it will be on my list too eventually.

I haven't even really got started and I can see myself totally getting into this as a hobby. There is something that appeals to my geeky side about having to charge my cigarette. Everything else I carry with me charges from USB, why not my nic sticks too? All the tweaking and mixing and flavors could be fun.

Well, in a couple of days I'll see for myself what all the fuss is about. Wish me luck folks. I can't wait to start vaping. Any advice on the transition will be appreciated. What was it like for you when you switched?

This forum is great, there's no way I could've been as informed or prepared without the great threads here.

Nice!!
This is exactly what I did this weekend too.
I cant tell you how long I was on researching this weekend, I do know I was so excited to place an order and start to vape.
Seems like a great community and so much experimenting it all just sounds fun.....plus being something to help get me off analogs. So I did the opposite I stuck with my first choice the 901 and I am set up pretty good....I will have to get me a 510 cause does seem like the choice model. Ya sent some good bucks on it but I feel in the long run it will be worth it.
So good luck!!!!
Maybe have to ask each other how our choice of 901 and 510 works out.
Cheers!

I fairly new to vaping so I'll leave the transition advice to the more experienced. But I can share my own experience. The first night of vaping was a bit disappointing...vaping is definitely different from smoking. But the next day, I loved vaping. It didn't take long to get the hang of vaping. I still have the occasional analog, but usually only outside as I now love having my house NOT SMELL OF SMOKE.

I'd say you're pretty well set up...you would have spent that much within a week or so of vaping anyway...you just got it out of the way upfront. Oh, it is easy for this to become a hobby...anyone who smokes has a bit of a obsessive/compulsive personality trait and you have just found a new outlet for that:D

I've been smoke free for a week now and here is my experience. The first day was a break-in period where I was getting used to vaping, by the end of the night I loved it. The next day I read here that some people (not all) thought it was a good idea to smoke an analog or two a day to see how your cravings are being controlled. So I tried a cigarette at the end of the following night

Friggin disgusting. I remember every time I quit in the past the taste and smell of cigarette smoke was not only favorable but comforting. This time around it was just nasty, and I was tortured all night as I slept with the smell of it on my hands and breath. (in retrospect I should have chugged some mouthwash and scrubbed my hands down)

I was a pack and a half per day smoker just days before, at that point I knew these things were working wonders. I started off with "Marlb" and "Menthol" flavors at first but by the third day I was making an emergency rush order on other flavors because even the simulated tobacco was getting redundant and a bit nasty.

So now I'm vaping on strawberry, cola, vanilla, and cappuccino alternativly throughout the day and it's awesome. I very sincerely hope that every new vapers experience is at least half as good as mine has been.

P.S. - the 510 rocks and the amount of product you purchased was good foresight, You'll love the passthrough hits and how it saves your batteries.

Thats not an abnormal first order. You did your research. Some folks spend a lot more and get a lot less. Also, you picked a device that many folks have a lot of experience with, you shouldn't have any issues getting help when you start vaping.

I am going to wager that you probably have at least a months worth of liquid, if not more. Now that you have the hardware, the expensive part is out of the way :)

I've spent about $600 so far and only two weeks in, but I'm also buying for 2.

One thing to be careful of, this can easily become a hobby and your wallet will suffer the consequences! If you take care of your equipment that you have now, you can really start seeing a difference in your wallet when all you have to do is buy liquid.

Best of luck and welcome to the vaping experience!

Congrats man!

It seems you started off on a better foot than I am, but I think we all will get there and that is all that matters. I also admire your ordering ... after all my reading and researching, it sounds so very close to the same as my ordering. I bought less juice up front and no extra filled carts, but that boils down to money being super tight at the moment.

Glad to hear about you as well, SaintCappy!

Please make sure and share more of your experiences, both of you ... especially after you get your e-cigs. It is highly motivating to read posts/threads like this where people share what has happened and what they expect, etc.

Thanks so much and good luck guys,

Eli

Good stuff. Thanks folks.
Hopefully the first shipment will be here tomorrow. Sounds like I didn't go too overboard, which is good to know. I just like to be prepared, and I didn't want to have an exuse to go back to analogs.
Sounds like after a bit of a break-in period no one ever wants to go back to cigarettes. I can handle that.

Let me know how the 901 works out for you SaintCappy!

When you all are ready to buy your second PV and step up to batteries that cost $2 instead of $14-$20, batteries that last 6-8 hours on a charge and great throat hit every inhale and PV's with 5-6 volts of power, then you will move up to the premiere devices like so many of us have:

The Big Six in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Kit / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette e-liquid shop
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: http://jantyusa.com/index.php
LV/ZiMoshi:Personal Vaporizers : Hardass Vapor Shop
Super T: Super T, Innovative manufacturer of Personal Vaporizer products.

(not that there is anything bad about the 510)

MacDaddy;

You did good, but I have one thing to say. That calculator you have? The one that said you would break even in 60 days? It's lying to ya buddy. Trash it. Once you start vaping that e-cig, you'll get the bug, and order more, like the rest of us. Don't worry about it. It's better than ciggies.

Exactly!

Eventually you'll have to break even, you just gotta find a PV that's to your liking. Now that I found my new main PV, I see no reason to buy another. That seemed to me the biggest kick to the wallet.

Granted, some people just like to have em all, if that's the case, then fuggetaboutit. :p

I feel ya Mac, my boyfriend ended up getting a Smoking Everywhere...or Anywhere or somthing from an Australian chickie at the kiosk in the mall. I paid the two bucks for a cart tried it and loved it but wanted to do some more research. Bought a starter kit with two 510 man. and a 901 as well, along with some juice (cloves ne one tried it who likes it?) Well, the worst part is that I got so antsy waiting for my shipment that I went down to Smoker Friendly and bought a stupid NPRO...hate it but use it just the same. I figure as soon as my shipment comes I'll give the NjOY to my mom. Have spent way too much money so far but it is worth it, haven't even thought about my Newport Lights in 2 days.

Got my first shipment today! Cigtechs got it to me in 3 days.

While charging the battery put an atomizer on the USB pass and I burned off the primer like the suggestions, then I took a few hits with a pre-filled RY4 cart. Enough to get a nicotine rush. A litte more potent than I am used to. The flavor was... interesting. For comparison I switched to a menthol cart. Now that's some good stuff! I could get used to this. I love being able to take a single hit and put it back down for a few minutes without waste. I think this will get me by until the full kit comes in a few days. I still have cofee flavor to try later.

I needed a new hobby anyway. I'm thankful every day that I'm employed so if I choose to spend more on this than on analogs then I've got that option. I can see now how easily that can happen. That screwdriver looks nice.
