At this point, I think this thread should be retired, and a new thread posing the same exact question should be started...

Why? Because I believe the results are now skewed.

The question was asked over a year & a half ago, which is a lifetime in this industry. A lot has changed during this time.

Should Mrs. T's, for example, still rank #12, as of this past November's most recent tally, considering what happened there? Especially if a new vaper comes along & decides to order after seeing their pretty good ranking? Not fair to them.

A new thread would also allow some of the recent up-and-comers during this year & a half to gain a better and more fair ranking. Nicoticket, for example, I'm betting would garner more than 11 votes the next go-around.

Thoughts?

And anybody care to take on this new project, with a monthly tally?

Thank you for your service.. :D

While I appreciate your idea, and I have been known to have my threads closed, the fact is that I ain't closing this one--at least yet. Give it time and you'll see the numbers account for what I deem to be the most important thing--longevity. Now, also know that the list was meant to show the most recurring names, not exactly the names most "hot" for a given season (Ms.T has always had shipping issues, but she's been around forever). And as far as Nicoticket only getting 11 "votes," understand that if a new thread was enacted, why would more people vote there as opposed to here? 11 will change to more as more post and the next tally will show it.

Oh, and if someone buys from the #12 without any further research, I think what is not fair is that this thread should be held accountable.

I am not sure how this post comes off, but know that your point is well taken. Starting a thread is easy though, but it's a crap shoot to having one last long enough to reveal something.

Agreed. But longevity would also be reflected in a new thread. For example, if somebody still has BB & GJ from AVE (which has been around for a while now) as a favorite, then they will still vote for AVE again. That would not change.

Here is just one of the problems with the current "poll":

"A lot has changed in the last two months since I started experimenting with new (to me) vendors. My updated list:"

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-top-5-vendors-e-liquid-271.html#post10556010

Only 1 out of his original 5 made it to his revision. After just 2 months of experimenting.

As vapers try out new brands, they discover some that they just like better. Their old favorites drop off, replaced by something they never even heard of just a few months ago.

How many favorites have changed from a year & a half ago? A year ago? 6 months ago?

The old votes have already been recorded, which are reflected in the the most-recent tally. How many people bother to update in this thread whenever there's a change? I'd wager very few.

I also think perhaps that's one possible reason why there hasn't been a new tally in almost 2 months.. It's just too much of a pain to try to keep track of!

As for Mrs. T's, it's not just that people are waiting 2+ months for their orders, but also apparently that the juice is no longer nowhere near as good as it used to be, that it's now mediocre, at best. Does that still deserve a very respectable #12 spot? Due to the number of votes, mathematically-speaking it will take a loooong time to even knock it down to #20 or whatever (where arguably, should probably be a lot lower than that, still).

Anyway, I understand this thread is your baby, but people should keep in mind the limitations of the whole thing, that the results are skewed, heavily favoring those which were good/popular 1.5 years or 1 year ago. That's not longevity. That's stale data in a quickly-changing industry. :)

I agree with both you and Mr.Mann

On one side you have an industry that will always be skewed by fads
and many of the people who vote will be new or ones that come vape for a few months and are gone

On the other hand some of the top vendors from 2 years ago may have been the top innovative vendors of the time
but are gone the way of the dinosaurs at this time

Probably the best thing to do is start a new thread every January and the results of that year

But then again you would need some one willing to do it

And better yet, cut it down to their top 3.

At least 40% less data to worry about.

Make people choose even more wisely.

And a new one every 6 months! :D

I think top 5 is perfect

It gives the best range of what someone vapes on a regular bases to get a profile

when I was new seeing that whole picture helped me find the ones that had like tastes

AVE, HHV, Halo, BWB, AiV, NLV, Ahlusion, MBV are atop a list from last year, this year and probably next year. We'll see about the others (though Nicoticket is gaining momentum in the past 6 months--I did a rough tally). That's not to say the most frequently mentioned names are always best for everyone else (never that), but don't think Ms.T is a stand-in for those with, as you say, a "respectable" place (one vendor gone south is one vendor, not all that representative of much--sort of a bad apple type example and thus not a good example). Also, don't assume that the bulk of "votes" for a particular vendor happened a year and a half ago, or even just around that time). It's all an accumulation. All of the top 5 vendors on the list still gets "votes." This thread has always been a trickle.

I say it's best for vapers to use the whole forum and the little engine that could called the search engine.

And plenty of people amend their votes. Plenty more than a few.

Also, it's not so much that this thread is my baby, but it is my thread and my homeboy NK's (hell, it's everyone's), and it's been much more than a list, it's been a resource and a place to commiserate and converse about a host of other topics relating to vendors on the list--not all vapers come here to see the latest tally. All in all I'd say it is a good thread to subscribe to.

There is a "best of" thread that happens every year and that thread may be what you're looking for.

Moving on now.
