Been vaping for a while, and my mom decided to order me a surprise gift for Christmas and it came in the mail today. (YAY and nah)

It was 3 different flavors of juice from mad vapes, called Top Vapor....

3 50ml bottls, I was in heaven.

They smelled great, and of course I tried to drip them all despite not wanting to wait to steep beause the 3 bottles were 3 different shades.

The Red Velvet Cake was a DARK brown (Thought that meant fully steeped).
The Coconut Creme Pie was a medium yellow
The Cookies N Cream was almost clear still

They all 3 had the date 1/2/15 on them.

MY QUESTION: Do different flavorings have different colors, or should they ALL have started out as clear? Why would the Red Velvet already be dark colored?

I have all 3 steeping right now in warm water, then after the water cools I will put them in a dark cabinet.

So I should take the tops off for a few hours during the day ONLY twice throughout the week?

Sorry I feel like a total NEWb, I usually get my juice from a local vape shop in 10ml bottles and never need to steep because I use berry blends and they are perfect after mixing.....

Don't worry, you certainly don't need to be religious about "the one true way" of letting juice age gracefully :)

But, I do agree with Sparkky. I mix my own, and that's roughly my technique (except I only shake and let breathe once). The shaking helps everything become uniformly mixed, but it will introduce lots of tiny air bubbles, which will float to the surface (which can take hours with high VG mixes). The breathing also helps in other ways, like letting any alcohol evaporate away, as some flavors have alcohol in them, which tends to be harsh. To be honest, I'm not really sure about the physical process that happen, I just know what I do, and what's conventionally done.

It is true that some flavors are just clear to begin with, others way darker.

If you plan on getting that juice in the future, I personally would drip a little bit every few days, to see how the flavor profile changes over time. Some flavors fade into the background, some come to the forefront, etc.

Taking the top off will allow any alcohol to evaporate. Many do this because some flavorings can have a chemical taste, and sometimes it helps get rid of that.

If the actual flavoring is alcohol-based, though, you might lose a little bit of the flavor by doing that.

It really depends on the juice - If it tastes chemical-ly, then try leaving the top off as described above. If not, then (IMHO) there's no need to leave the cap of at all.

Just my :2c:

Day or night a really good shake two hours with the top cap and tips off, keep your juice in a dark drawer, the amount of power will differentiate the amount of flavor also for curtain flavors, you'll just have to play with the dial but i'm assuming you have a variable voltage stick battery.
