Currently using Ego C Twists (JC Vea as a backup) and after falling in love with variable voltage as well as seeing some of the great PVs people have, I've been debating on picking up something more "robust" when (hopefully) I get a bonus next month.

I see a lot about Provari as being the top, if at least one of the top items on many people's lists. I had also been looking at the Lambo v4 as well. While I've been slanting towards either one of those two, I was wondering what others I may be passing up that some of you might highly recommend, that may compare to those.

What would I be looking to spend in total (PV, good battery, chargers, etc.)?

I've been vaping since early this year, having started on Blu (and other "cigarette" types), before having moved onto the JC Vea, and finally the Twists (which I've been thoroughly enjoying).

Preemptive thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions!

edit: Suppose I should have included what drew me to Provari and Lambo. I obviously want variable voltage, the LCD screens, the ability to check Ohms of an atomizer, well-built, ease of use (menus and such), and of course, looks.

Tell us what features are important to you and what is your price limit in dollars. It sounds like you want variable voltage to be included; is that a necessity or would a nice fixed voltage mod be acceptable?

How large or small should the device be? How long do you expect the batteries to last? Will this device be used only at home, work, or everywhere?

How long do you expect the device to last, and how important is having the option to have said device to be repaired after warranty?

A Provari with charger and two rotating batteries will run you close to $200.

If you can't afford an avd like the provari you could always buy the new 3-6v egos. They do everything an avd does minus the ohm meter and they also have usb passthrough. Then buy a $5 multimeter or get one of those ohm meters vape sites sell for like $15-$20.

I edited my OP a little. I guess to add, I'd like something that would last. A good long warranty would be great, but would like to have it last maybe a couple years without having to worry about repairs (provided it wasn't dropped excessively, thrown around, or run over by a car). I'm more prone to replace something broken than try to fix it myself, unless it was particularly easy to do on my own and/or really cheap to do. I try to take good, if not great care with my electronics and this would fall in line with it. I use my Vea and sometimes my Twists at work or when I'm out of the house (usually the Vea as they seem to be quite solid). This "upgrade" would strictly be used at home, while chilling on the coach or surfing the webs. With my bonus, sky's the limit really, but at the same time, I think I wouldn't really want to spend past $200 if I can help it. Not for a vaping device anyway. If it was exceptionally nice, I might overlook that limit.

Do you need the controls on the unit? Or would a tube mod with an Evolv Kick work for you?

I'd prefer the controls on the unit for simple ease of use. I'm familiar with the Kick and while I think it's a nifty device, I'd rather not have to fiddle with it every time I change cartos, tanks, or whatnot. I understand that once I found a setting I really like, I could probably leave it, but I like to experiment with new things and would probably just find it a hassle.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, currently running a basic ego-c kit and well ..... it's time to step it up. I like all the review I've heard about the Provari, I think I'm going to wait to see what this new Lavatube can do and the review as the starter kit all in will be around $115. Leave a little more money for getting a bunch of different tanks and such.

my 2 cents

I just purchased the Bombshell Stinger, you can use it with or without a kick (special separate sleeve so it is not in the way when changing batteries or tanks), a new button (top cap) is only 20.00 if it goes bad. It is a tube so not much else to go bad on it. I feel it will be a long lasting PV and easily repaired if there is a problem. Don't have it yet so can't report how it works. It also uses a 26650 battery so lots of vape time. Might be worth looking at considering what you want.

Actually, took a look at the Evolve Kick and I was initially wrong with how I thought it worked. Looks more intriguing now that I understand it better and so does that Bombshell Stinger. Once you receive it, drop me a line! Would like to know how that works out for you.

If it's dependability you want, I'd definitely recommend the Saber Touch from Vapor Moon: Flash Intro Page It's got a 5 year warranty, and is built like the proverbial tank. It has a touch-sensitive plate instead of a button, so there's really nothing to break.

I prefer simplicity myself, but there are all sorts of options available for VV, kicks, passthroughs and so on. It comes in three different sizes and is completely customizeable for aesthetic purposes.

I love this little bugger. :)

i am in the same boat...
started with an Apollo Vtube but due to fiddling with it the top cap came lose and eventually broke. after a FAILED attempt to soder the connection back together i melted the top cap :(
bought a mod off a friend, I think its like the lavatube v2 but i want a more SOLID mod.

so i am currently between a provari and a Zmax... anyone own either of those and have any input? im going to check out the new lavatubes too...

i just need a vv mod that can take a beating as obviously i am rough on them :p

Durability, dependibility, SCREAMS PROVARI.

My provari was my second mod, and has outlived COUNTLESS OTHER CHINA MODS.

Its chipset is very consistent, and typically used to " audit" other mods..

Put it this way, theres a reason other mods are always compared to the provari.. Same as android cellphone platforms are always compared to the iphone..

Along the same lines, I recommend Alt Cigs' Silver Bullet with a Kick. The mod is top-quality and built to last. You can use it with a Kick by either going with a smaller battery or picking up an optional sleeve for an 18650 battery.

I agree with most of this.

There is also a Zmax clone Co-op running right now to get one for about $60-65

I'm actually starting to lean more towards the Kick with either the Bombshell Stinger, or Silver Bullet, simply because of the way I understand that it works. The ability to vary wattage and that it will adjust voltage depending on what type of tank/carto/etc. that you place on it.

The things I like about the Provari are that it seems to be built quite solid and it's very accurate. Not sure I'm liking the way the menu is handled though (I can already see myself hammering on the button repeatedly because I continue to miss the menu or having to get back into it to adjust the voltage various ways until I find some setting I like).

Are there any all-in-one units that might be out there that may be similar to the way the Evolv Kick work? I've seen the Darwin, but I didn't like the form factor, and I want to be able to buy things to use on it rather than drop a ton and just stare at it while it sits on my desk.
