I am looking to buy a higher voltage or variable voltage pv. Is it better to have a vv or a straight up 5v kit? Does a 5v exist? Maybe a 5v passthrough? I am looking at the vtube from apollo or the lavatube but I want it to be my last pv purchase for awhile. I have been vaping since the end of January and have 5 pvs already lol. Thanks

IMO a VV device is more versatile that a single voltage device. On my 5V box-mod I only use cartos and attys in the 2.8-3.2 ohm range. Any lower than that it tastes burnt; any higher, the vape is too cool for my taste. The exception is 1.5 ohm DCC: they rock at 5V, but then they are two 3ohm coils. On my VV I can use any carto or atty from about 1.5 ohm up to 4.2 ohm.

One thing to keep in mind about the LavaTube: it is limited to 2.5A so if you use a 1.5ohm DCC you will not be able to push it past 4Volts or so. If you decide to go VV, look into box mods or the LavaTube, or if you have the cash to spend go with the Provari or Darwin. There also a number of other devices that are very good: Buzz Pro, Saber-Touch, etc.

Good luck...

Personally I recommend the 5v WoW! @ Clouds of Vapor I've had several 5v and 7.4v mods and I like this one the best. Plus its pretty dang cheap. I picked up the mod & 2 sets of the batts for $45. I already had a charger for them and the best for money one I can advise is this one.

I had one of the 5v passthroughs (still do) but the issue is while they are 5v the amp rating on the switch is pretty low which means:
1) You wont get the same experience as you will with a mod
2) Its likely to die pretty quick (ie a few months of regular use).

The other option to "try" 5v on the cheap is to get an LR atty for your current device. While the experience wont be exactly the same, you will get a decent idea of it.

You mentioned you had a number of PVs already, so if one of them takes 18650 batteries then another option for you would be to buy the Madvapes 4.8v NiMH batteries which come off the charger at a little over 5 volts. I have been using them in my Chucks for awhile now and I'm sold on them. You would have to pick up the charger that goes with them though.
