Total n00b here, but going to order *something* tonight

My husband and I have been smoking for years, and are determined to quit analogs. We've tried different methods in the past, and it just. doesn't. work. I'm okay without the nicotine, but the actual ritual of smoking is something that I don't want to give up.

Just the other day a friend posted on facebook about trying e-cigs and actually going 2 days without a smoke, and without a nic fit. She's using White Cloud (and I just found out another friend does , too), however I'm the type that will research something to death before I'll spend our hard earned money on it - and it's a good thing I do! I'd hate to think that I would have gotten something over-priced and so poorly received by those of you "in the know."

I think I've narrowed my choices down: either a Volt or a Bloog. Yes, it isn't the kgo or ego... but I'm just not ready to get something that big. Yes, I'm aware that I'll probably upgrade soon. I'll probably get a kgo for my husband right off the bat, though.

Now that I've agonized over what unit to get, I just have to decide on some flavors! (And so begins another round of countless hours online, searching for the "perfect" sample kit).

The proverbial hunt for the perfect juice is always a challenge, but definitely get a variety to try. I found that things I thought I'd hate turned out to be my favorites and things I thought I'd love, I didn't care for. Also remember that your taste buds will take awhile to heal from the years of smoking and what you don't like today, you may love in a month from now.

Just have fun with it and if you have a cigarette now and then, it's not the end of the world.

Welcome to the forum and to vaping!

Congrats for wanting to make the switch! I highly recommend Volt or Bloog (the kr808d batteries) for someone starting out. I love my volt batteries and still use them (along with egos). The slim cig design satisfied me while going through that transition. I just wouldn't buy 10 different color 808s (like I did) because within 2 months I wanted something more! And the e liquid? There are many people here that can head you in the right direction or just read through the forums. I started out with tobaccos and then coffees and then vanillas, chocolates and caramels which lead me to the bakery.... =)
Good luck!

Welcome to the ECF! Was in your shoes 3 weeks ago... Good luck on making your final decisions on what to purchase first! Congrats on making the decision to quit. Deciding to "go for it" and order my first starter kit was the best decision I have made.

Just wait until you actually complete a purchase. Just a warning... obsessively checking tracking numbers and stalking the mailman are common "side effects" of quitting the spendy stinkies! LOL!

If you wan't to get something that still looks like an analog:

-I don't know much about the Volt, but some find it's vapor production lackish.
-With the Bloog, even though it might be more on the expensive side, I hear it's still a suprisingly satisfying vape.

-If you want cheap and still analog looking, but also compatible with anything you want to upgrade too, I'd reccomend buying for 1 person:

- 2 510 batteries (7 bucks/each)
- 1 USB (4 bucks)
- 1 Wall Adapter for the USB to plug into the wall (4 bucks)
- 4 packs of Boge Standard Resistence Cartomizers (6 per pack) (7 bucks each)
-A well reviewed juice supplier.

Also don't buy into the hype of buying pre-filled cartridges or cartomizers. A cartomizer holds about 1ml of juice and can be refilled for about a week using a bottle of e-juice (30ml for 10-15 bucks), rather then using a cartomizer once with what juice that came with it (probably also underfilled), never forget that you can re-use the cartomizer. You don't have to constantly buy more pre-filled ones.

oh, when searching for juice, don't forget to grab at least 1 menthol flavour, it'll will help a lot in the long run. For some reason menthol works kinda like, the coffee beans they put in the perfume aisle. Eventually you smell a flavour to much, or just to many flavours, that they all get muted. Menthol helps reset your tastes somewhat.:) Welcome to ECF

hi CruchyGeek & welcome to ECF:)..as a newbie and a noob..i certainly think this VV eGo is the way to go..so simple and easy to use..i have bought countless sets for relatives and friends who simply wish to vape without fuss and ease..this is what i recommended and they so happy using it..U need to add a plug,drip-tips, extra cartos and e-liquids to start yr vaping journey without any hassel what-so-ever...regards mafig ps i highly praise healthcabin 650mAh V.V. Dual Coil (1.5ohm) Promotion Kit [A-09-12-6] - $50.00 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail-- for their fast despatch with my order and that where i bought my VV eGo starter kits

my VV eGo with a micromizer(cartomizer)..very cool and great vapor

Id really really really recommend you start with a Ego-T 650mAh right off the bat. I bought a smaller unit and within 2 days of quitting it just wasn't enough. This is my opinion and I know you mentioned your against it, but seriously I think your throwing money away otherwise. As well start with a 5 10ml booster kit. Make sure you find the flav you like right away and order another 30ML bottle as you will run out.

I currently have a small 510, a ciggerette wanna-be look-a like, 650mAh joyetech Ego-T, 1100mA Ego-T and just ordered a VeriVolt and I quit like 3 months ago... your always gonna want something to keep up with the hit your looking for.

Goodluck

I like the Volt/ Bloog, whatever 808 batteries. Mine are from V4L. I have two regular size and 1 XL with a manual button. The regulars last me about 5-6 hrs without a charge. The XL lasts about 8 hours, which is plenty for me. I agree with the previous posters that you should get blank cartomizers and some juice. Ry4 blends seem to be popular. I smoked a lot for a long time and the regular tobacco flavors taste dry. I smoked regulars, but definitely get a strong mint or menthol. If you smoked heavily get at least one bottle of 24mg nic strenght for those strong, tear your hair out urges. Good luck and enjoy. This is a wonderful journey! :)

To the OP:
congrats on making the switch! Keep this in mind: whatever your first kit is, don't be discouraged if it doesn't do what you think it should do, or just doesn't seem "right", for some reason. It seems most vapers will go through a kit or two, even after making that "perfect" choice. That's just the nature of hardware. As far as eliquids, there a a number of recommended suppliers on these forums that are good choices--don't be afraid to sample as many as you want (to me, that's half the pleasure). Good luck, and keep us posted!

Welcome and congrats to the both of you for making such a life changing decision. Both of the PVs that you mentioned are solid kits and should perform well for you. The more important thing IMHO is to get something and get started asap. You have a partner to discuss your kits with which will be very helpful.

You'll soon discover what you like and dislike about what you have bought and have the thousands of people here to give help and support. There is no issue that you may have that the good people here will not be able to iron out for you. This is a great trip y'all are about to take! Have fun and good luck to you both!

Congratulations on making the transition to the wonderful world of vaping! I made the switch in early December and haven't looked back. The Volt and Bloog are both highly recommended for those looking for a pen-style/cig-size. I started out with a Halo G6, which is very similar, and love it. I've also just ordered a Volt because I wanted some extra batteries and wanted to try those, too (a little cheaper than Halo). Many people recommend egos, kgos, etc., and for good reasons (not the least of which is greater battery life). I have an ego with 900 mah batts, and really like it, but it supplements my G6--it hasn't replaced it.

One of the big advantages of the bigger batteries is that you can use lower ohm cartos, which gives a warmer (stronger?) vape, which makes all the difference for some people.

For a juice starter kit, I can recommend Halo's variety pack. I'm sure you'll get plenty of other suggestions, but it's the one I started with. Halo's juices are really high quality, and it's nice to get a mix of tobacco and non-tobacco flavors to get a sense of what you like.

And in case this hasn't been mentioned already: if you don't like a juice right away, try it again later. One of my current favorites (Halo's Tiki) was one I initially thought was bleh, then kind of ok, then pretty good occasionally, and now I vape it all the time.

And don't forget to drink lots of water!!!

Good luck, and WELCOME!

I'm not too far off from where you are right now. I'm 5 days off analogs, and don't even feel like I'm missing a thing! It took some trial and error over the last month, until I got the perfect e-juice (for me, since everyones taste is obviously different)< and I haven't looked back since. I have the ProSmoke (small, cigarette look alike type e-cig), but their pre-filled cartridges weren't satisfying me. Ordered some e-juice from a few places, once my order from Backwoods Brew arrived, I was set and haven't picked up a real cigarette since. The juice that did it for me from Backwoods Brew (BWB) was Casablanca. I'm also really enjoying their "Melonbacco". I did find myself liking some coffee flavors, even the pre-filled coffee flavor, and i hear BWB's "Espresso" is amazing, I plan to order that in a few days. Their site is backwoodsbrew.net. I've read a ton of positive reviews on ECF about their juice....and my experience was beyond positive. Prompt shipping, friendly emails with Don at BWB afterward, and most importantly...no more analogs since the day the mailman showed up with that package!

Good luck!

Im 4 months in and I spent around $300 before I realized I just needed to start over and get the real deal. If I would have done that first id have more money in the bank and pay back would be a lot sooner. Get a couple Provari's and add some tanks. Take all the guess work out and then have fun finding what flavors you like. Start out with a product u know will work and thats the hardest part. PROVAPE.COM
