Hey Guys,

Thanks for reading. I just got finished typing out my first message when I realized my login had timed-out! Needless to say, my browser's 'back' button didn't help.

Okay, I know very little, but have done a lot of reading here at the forum. I'm looking to start off by purchasing two models: one discreet vape for work, and one with more output for home use.

For work I'm looking at the 510's. They seem fine, except I've read that you've gotta drip juice every five draws? That seems really impractical. I guess that's why some people use cartridges in those settings?

For home I...well, that's the tricky one. I want something with variable voltage to help me more quickly identify my personal sweet spot, and I'd like something with a pretty big e-juice reservoir so I'm not constantly messing my gadgetry.

Ideas?

I really appreciate any input, and I have a lot of respect for the amount of stuff you guys know!

Thanks,

-DocFab

Welcome to the forum!

Normally, for a slim ecig, I would recommend a Volt by Smokeless Image, but since you wish to go with 510 threading then I would suggest going for an Ego or Kgo for your out and about PV. They aren't much larger than a fully assembled 510 unit (about the size of a Sharpie Pen) but will give you better battery life and you'll have a lot more options for cartomizers.

I use the Vision Ego Stardusts (also known as E-Turbo, Vision Ego Clearomizers, etc) and I love them, but there are many other good options you can use.

With the slim 510, you will be limited to what cartos you can use and I suspect would be frustrating for you.

As for VV mods, I'm sure someone will be by to recommend a Provari or Lavatube before too long so I'll leave that to those who have used them lol. I just use an Ego Booster on my existing Ego batteries to get variable voltage.

Good luck to you and happy vaping!

KGO kit for stealthy work use, from Darkcityvapor or Hoosiersupply.

For home use, really depends on your budget, like the Provari will set you back over $200 for a kit. BuzzPro/InfinityPro is under $200. These are nice VV MODs.

There is also box VV Mods that are cheaper. Look at Madvapes and elsewhere. There are also more expensive, different finishes and features out there. Reo I think is bringing out a VV version.

Stardusts for the KGO are simple. Tanks are too. Like Madvapes DC Tanks. Takes a little to get use to though. Mega cartomizers are relatively low maintenance, where you don't have to refill often, just top it off occasionally.

Welcome and good luck!

If money's no object, for a VV go for a Provari, about $225 +/-

For a starter VV, you really can't beat a Lavatube. They come under different names, depending on the vendor and run from about $70 for the kit, including charger and a battery or two. I have a V-Tube, which is apollo ecigs version. The Lavatube limits your amperage to 2.5A. This means that if you put a too low resistance carto in it, it will automatically govern the amount of voltage you can use, so you don't blow out your coils. Some people see this as a drawback and some people, especially people new to vaping, see it as an advantage. I'm not interested in blowing out cartos or vaping with a 2ohm carto at more than 5V, so it doesn't bother me. A 3ohm carto will give you the full range from 3V to 6V. Lavatubes don't really work with dual coil cartos. I don't care for them myself, so again, it's not a disadvantage for me. Lavatubes also have reverse polarity protection and over-discharge protection.

There are other VV's in the price range, mostly "box mods". That is, they are square shaped and generally don't come with voltage display. You have to turn a small wheel inside, or adjust them with a little screwdriver. They don't limit your amperage, so you're free to blow out cartos at will.

Then, there's the BuzzPro at about $120. It's a better built machine than the Lavatube and doesn't contain the newbie friendly protections of the Lavatube either.

For a smallish fixed voltage model, I prefer the kGo over the eGo and the e-Power over either. The 14650 version of the e-Power is about the size of an eGo, but it uses replaceable batteries instead of being a disposable unit. The switch can also be replaced so you don't have to throw the whole thing if something happens with the switch. It's my #1 recommendation for newbie vapers who are upgrading from, or want to skip, the typical cigarette lookalike initiation ritual. The e-Power runs about $45 for the kit including batteries, charger and some cartomizers. Replacement batteries run about $5 or so, compared to the $15-20 for eGo type sealed batteries.

Thanks for the fast support, guys!

On the VV side of things, I'm leaning towards a Provari, and here's what I plan on getting so far:
-the unit itself (didn't see any finish options at the site, though)
-provari charger
-18650 extension cap
-2x 18650 batteries
-5X 510 cartomizers (why would someone buy an atomizer, though?)

Okay, now for a juice tank, I'll need one that will work in conjunction with a 510 carto, right? I keep reading this is an important part of the process, the right tank with the right carto, something to do with intake, and also one that's got a reliable seal. Any suggestions? Ideally, I'd like one that's got silver accents to match the Provari, and also one that's a similar width, so the whole device looks like one cohesive unit.

And then there's the drip tip...any cool silver ones out there to match the provari?

Finally, I've done a fair bit of research on e-juice, and Flavor Crafters carries a great reputation.

Thanks, guys! Hell, I realize now that I wouldn't even mind using this thing discreetly at work. I think I'll actually be rather proud of my device, haha. Some say not to publicize vaping, and others say to let your freak flag fly, but I'll just use the thing and exist.
